well I would like to introduce my self I am a disabled vet I reload my .223 an 6x.284 an my 45 ruger but haven't a clue as to what to load this new rifle to I load my ruger with Winchester 231 @ 250 gr.rn 8.0 powder gives me 900 fps been using this for years the only other formula I seen was unique was 8 gr. @ 250 lfp 1000 fps with good acuracy both pistol an henry which I don't know what that stands for I have 1000 rn this guy swears by this I don't want to take the word of one person does it make it that much of a difference if I use the round nose bullets in place of the lfp
any help woul be greatly appreciated guys would be glad to share my loads with you

The only reason I see to use one bullet type over another in a rifle is whether or not it functions through the action, and is more accurate than a different bullet. The only way to know either is to shoot some and see.
If it works in the rifle and handgun that would be ideal, one load for both would be my goal. However I would not be heartbroken if I had to load differently to make the most of both guns.

Welcome to TIL, you might also look in the handloading forum for more loads. Use the search function to find caliber data posted by others.

I make sure all of my rounds will run in my lever guns, revolvers and my Coonan. (I am a 357 magnum fan) I tend to load mine just a little long but it works well.

How ever I only really test accuracy in my carbine. Out of a hand gun any thing that is accurate enough for hunting with the carbine will be accurate enough for self defence. Not that I use reloads for self defence.

I did find some info that might help others do not not use over 260 gr. bullet of any type pressures will vary too high so what ever bullet whether cast or jacketed what ever powder co.says load at will be fine here are mine that I load for my 7.5 in. ruger 250 gr.cast rn 8 grs.win.231 gives me 900 fps it shoots well at 60 paces I can destroy a 10 in.saw blade so im going to try it in my new henry i'll let everyone know how it works thanks to those who gave me advice
