My new Glock 29

Last night I bought my first 10mm. I really like Glocks and the 29 seems very versatile. I'm considering Winchester 175 Silvertips for carry, what do you guys think? This purchase makes me very happy. Now I have to find a new IWB holster for it. Also, does anyone know where to get good practice ammo? Thanks.

I love Silvertips, especially in 10mm. They are a hoot to fire in a Glock 20. Let me know how they are in 29.

As for holsters, Milt Sparks just came out with some new designs that would be great for the 29. In particular, the Watch Six would be superb. I'm thinking of getting one for my Glock 30.

The siver tips are about the best on the shelf Ammo for carry in 10mm. You may also want to check out Pro Load's 180 gr. JHP, also a great load. I have a G-20. As far as an IWB try SIDEARMOR for Kydex. I have one for my G-30 work great, and is comfortable. Both Pro Load and SIDEARMOR have internet sites. Also go over to Glock Talk Forum. Great place for Glock lovers. Good info too.

Silvertips seem to be the popular choice for the 10mm PDW. Midway has them for $9.79 (?) box of 20 including shipping. I also tried the ProLoad 180s; they had more flash and shot harder that the STs. ProLoad has a _Brand New_ 10mm load. Its a 135 gr Nossler loaded to 1440 fps (probably 50-100fbs less in the 29). I'll be interested to see what nossler does to a gelitan block and what the gelitan block does to the nossler.

If you gun has ejection problems check the ejector. On the side should be printed a number. If the number is 4340 you should replace it with one numbered 8196-1.

The best deal for practice ammo, besides reloading, seems to be the 200gr. Blazers (about $10/box around here).

If you find the 29 to be a little too brisk with the STs, check out the Agrip, grip enhancer at www.brookstactical.com . For me they made the difference between having to reposition my grip after each shot and not having to reposition. It is a much better product than the slip on rubber grips.

I second OtisZ on the Glock Talk recommendaion ( www.glocktalk.com ). "The 10-Ring" Forum is Glock 20/29 headquarters.

I've gotten quantities of 180 FMJ 10mm from Georgia Arms at reasonable prices. They also have 180 JHP and I think 155 JHP with a good price tag. I would carry for defense Silvertips, ProLoad, or maybe Corbons.

I have been thrilled with my Glock 29.

Clink on my article below for some velocities you should expect from the G29. Remember, this is a shorter barrel, and some of the velocities come down quite a bit.

I keep WW Silvertips in mine also.

I regret the day I had to sell my 29. Great little gun. I also loaded with 175gr. STs. Off topic, but my littlest girl just walked for the first time!!!
Anyway, also buy the +2 extenders I think from Pierce? Gives you a 12 shot 10mm. CP cartridge also has a 155 grain at I think 1400fps. That would be ideal in the 29. I envy you and will probably get me another before too long.

I'd highly recommend the Wolff non-captured guide rod system, with the heaviest springs that you can get from Wolff. You can also get the setup from Brownell's. Muzzle flip, frame battering, and perceived recoil will be greatly reduced. Additionally, the plastic factory piece can break. Never heard of a steel guide rod breaking.

Congrats on your new purchase. I have owned a 10MM handgun since 1988. I carried 200 grain "Black Talons" in my "Delta Elite" until they were discontinued. Then I went to "Cor@Bon" 150 grain JHPs. It's a smoker yet very controllable. If you reload, you might want to try the "Speer" 190 grain TMJ bullet with 6.7 grains of "Unique" gunpowder for practice ammo. This combination is smooth as butter.

Thanks for all of the replies. Claemore, congrats on your daughter. My son is 18 months old. We are lucky people to have small children, they are wonderful. Can anyone recommend a good .40 barrel? I have yet to take it to the range because I work all the time. I can't wait. Thanks again folks.

Claemore, congrats. And I know you and all the rest of us are putting +2s ONLY on mags manufactured prior to 1994, because that's legal. OK?
