My New Dan Wesson Heritage

This gun is so nice, I had to start a new thread after the one titled "My 2nd 1911" .

I decided rather than going for a budget 1911, I would get a nice 45. Granted the Dan Wesson Heritage isn't as fancy as the Valor or some of the others....internally it is the same and accuracy wise identical to the more expensive models (according to Dan Wesson inc.)

I bought it this morning on my way to my monthly IPSC match at my LGC for $1200. I traded in an old M&P 40 full sized that I didn't shoot anymore to soften the blow a little and allow me to get some wood G10 grips which I like better than the black ones.

So, I decided to use it in the matches entering 2 different guns, a ruger sr1911 10mm and the DW heritage 45. I was shocked at how smooth and easy shooting and accurate the DW was!!! During warmups I was putting 8 rounds of cheap ball ammo into 1 hole at 15 yards!!!

The weakhand unsupported shooting was easy and I was super fast with the DW because of how smooth and accurate it is.....this was especially nice during the double tap runs and the long range headshots.

Everything about this gun is better than my skill level is right now.

So far everything about it is spectacular, and time will tell on longevity. I also intend to carry it when I carry a full sized gun.

I've handled many Dan Wesson 1911's but have only shot three of them. I have been thoroughly impressed every time. Great to hear how happy you are with yours but I am not surprised!

Very nice, Dan Wesson 1911s are some of the best within about double their price point, especially their "budget" lines. When I get a full sized .45ACP 1911 again, Dan Wesson will definitely be in the running (though I'll probably go less expensive and get a Springfield Armory Loaded or a Ruger as the DW will be at the very ceiling of my price range, and is above the price range I'm willing to carry or use for home defense). Anyway, congrats on a nice pistol.

Now, you forgot something...Where are the pics? :)

Here's the pics

Like I said, I put some wood grips on it. Otherwise I'm not making any changes.

I'm a big fan of Dan Wesson 1911s. You made an excellent choice and are just now starting to reap the benefits of your decision! :)

Heritage is the least hand fit dw and they save money by leaving frame bland. but honestly you'd be hard pressed to tell. I've got more dw then I should I went big with the duty coat valor as my first. I'm sure you'll be very happy with that it looks great.

Glad to see you picked up a DW. I have two, a Specialist and a PM-9. They are both amazingly smooth, crisp, and accurate.

Your Heritage is put together just as well as all the others, with parts that are the same. Only differnece is it doesn't have front strap checkering like some others. But, still the same great tool steel parts, still a great forged frame, and still great Dan Wesson quality.

Nice job!
