They are checkered around the back....and slender too. If I didn't know better, you would think these were hand-fitted to the frame. His work is the best I've ever seen.

As for price..actually I bartered (cash/trade, etc) with a member of the "Smith" forum. I think the price starts at about $75.00 and up depending on smooth or checkered, but don't quote me on it.

I have a 2.5" 686 which is just begging for a set of those. Where'd you get them?

This is a set of non-checkered Spegals in coco bolo on my .45 Colt Mountain Gun. To be honest they took a little smoothing on the inner surface to get that custom fit look. But when I was finished they were so tight that it is difficult to remove them with damage to the grips.
