Just wanted to show off my new (and first) gun!

Here is it, Beretta 92FS Inox:

That's a great looking gun, esp. if its your first! One of the best looking autos looks even better in its INOX version. Its also one of the most reliable defense pistols to be had.

If you're a beginner with DA/SA pistols be sure to practice your first critical double action shots. Stay safe and enjoy!

Cool! I've been seriously thinking about picking up one of these things next.

How to get my Mom to go for it is another question.. I wish I was 21. :o

No No No...
DO NOT BE DOING THAT BS!

Wait till your 21 before you buy a handgun... Private Transfer my @ss. Trying that crap could land you AND the poor sap that sells it to you. Do not listen to Incursion's words on this. Seriously. It aint worth it! Get a rifle and enjoy that for awhile. In the mean time do some research into handguns to find the best one for you.
Think of it as loosing your virginity... You want your first time to be with a hottie and not chubby little Maryjane Rottencrotch, Right?

Private Transfer... Right. Remember those words sitting in Jail. Yeah - GOOD ADVICE there, Incursion!

wHOA HOLD ON THERE A SECOND!

PRIVATE SALES TO THOSE UNDER 21 ARE NOT NECESSARYLY ILLEGAL. IT IS NOT LEGAL FOR FATCAT TO PURCHACS FROM A DEALER TILL HE IS 21. BUT IN MOST STATES HE CAN BUY HANDGUNS AT 18. AFTER ALL 18 IS LEGAL AGE IN THE US. HE IS AN ADULT UNDER THE LAW. (THEY SURE WILL CHARGE HIM SO IN A HEARTBEAT.) SO UNLESS THE STATE LAW DISALLOWS HIS PURCHACE OF A HANDGUN UNTIL HE IS 21(WHICH HAPPENED HERE IN NJ JUST THIS YEAR - PRIOR YOU COULD BUY HANDGUNS PRIVATELY WHEN YOU TURNED 18) A PRIVATE TRANSFER IS PERFECTLY LEGAL. gETTING AMMO THAT MAY BE A PROBLEM:p

Ditto
I had 2 handguns before I turned 21 both via private transfer.

I was a little worried at first so I asked a local LEO. He said it was fine as long as I was 18. He then advised me to be sure and always get some sort of written recipet in case anything ever comes back stolen.

By the way That is one nice gun Timmy I think I might have to look towards a 96. Gosh I don't want to have to buy another type of ammo in bulk too.:p

Way to go Timmy; great looking pistol
and nice pic's. Enjoy!!!

Here in Michigan it is legal to buy a pistol at the age of 18 from a privite person! If it is legal in your state do it! Pays to know your state's law. I'm 20 and own 6 handguns!:D :D :D BTW long guns are fun too, just got a great deal on a ak-47 last night;)

Private transfers are perfectly legal in TX. As long as you can prove that you didn't do a straw man's purchase, you'll be fine.

Nice choice Timmy; Take care of that 92fs and it'll last a long long time. I myself own two, stainless and the y2k version with rosewood grip and find them a pleasure to shoot with incredible accuracy. I have shot both many times and never a problem. Enjoy!

Man those Beretta's are beautiful! That was the first handgun I purchased on my own after turning 21.

However, I owned 2 handguns before my 21st birthday. Both were purchased by my parents, one for Christmas and one with my money. However, I lived away from home while at college, but both firearms stayed home with my parents. Yes, they were "mine," but legally I didn't want to deal with the crap of trying to explain what I was doing with the handguns before I was 21.

Going that route worked well for me, being that both firearms were under my father's name and both still residing in his house. I would be hesitant to buy from a private seller before turning 21 as you don't really know the history of the firearm in question. If your parents will buy it for you and let you keep it in their house, then go for it. But don't try to go around their authority with a private sell. It could cost you much more then the purchase price of the firearm in the long run.

You'll be 21 soon enough, and 41 sooner than you want to.

Timmy, nice pistol. A word of advice, don't clean it to death, and don't do anything weird to "break it in." Just shoot it, and as CR Sam says, shoot to make every shot count, you'll learn faster. Be safe, shoot happy.

Regards,

Ledbetter
