My new ATI 4.25 in 45acp

Just got home yesterday with a new 1911. I wanted a low cost and serviceable 1911. I wanted a 4 inch barrel in 45 acp. Read up reviews and settled on ATI and as good a deal as I could find. So I went looking at LGS and they had them last winter in 5" but not 4.25. The shorter barrel also had a bobbed hammer and maybe better fixed sights. So I waited and looked some more. I asked again the next trip to town then no ATI at all. I looked at them on gunbroker and wanted to do local if I could.
Last week I went in LGS and didn't see any and asked the guy at the counter.
"Oh I remember you" he said and pulled out 3 different models priced $20 less then last winter. Cool!
So the commander size one went home with me for less than $350 out the door.:)
So what do I think now?
The trigger is maybe 5 pounds and really useable as is.
Shot it maybe 5 clips full with my reloads and homecast bullets, function so far is 100% and just for grins tried to feed empty cases from the magazine :) that works too.
Accuracy, can't tell yet, seems good at close range. I will need to get a spotter and attack my 150 yard steel target.
No it is not my CDP ll Kimber with the EGW 3.5# trigger, but sure seems like it was money well spent.

Commander size 1911 for $ 350. Great Price . Good Luck with it , I think ATI 's are from the Philippines . You can't ask for anything better , that shoots your oun reloads 100% I know guys that have $ 1200 . 1911's with problems in there first 50 rounds. Commander size are so well balanced. I picked up a new Colt New Agent in 45acp also a fun gun to shoot 3" barrel. Keep it clean & lubed . Once again , great deal.

While I haven't shot the ATI's I have handled a few and they feel pretty solid and seem like they would make a good entry gun or just a good priced shooter. My cheap 1911 is a Taurus that I picked up used for a really good price and they come with a good amount of "upgrades" that come standard.

Mulespurs, congrats on your new commander. I have the basic ATI 4.25" as well and love that thing! The onliest change I made was to put on simple black rubber grips. I carried it for a couple of years until I decided to go back to my higher capacity CZ. Like yours, mine has no problems at all with reloads. I loaded lead SWC's from 185, 200, and 230gr with WST, Green dot, and even Trail Boss. That crazy pistol digested them all 100%.

I'd had Commander size pistols before from Springfield, Brolin, Para, and Llama- and by far the best of the bunch was the ATI and Brolin. The Llama was actually pretty good too, but I was young and got tired my friends telling what a piece of junk Llamas are so I traded it. But anyway, if your ATI is anywhere as good of a pistol as mine is- you'll be holding on to that one for a long time.
