Got her at the gun show a few weeks back. I know its over priced for a HD shotgun but could not pass up. Had the black tac-ta-cool stock and fore end. Got a deal on flea bay for some brand new take off wood furniture and swapped 'em out. Will be taking the gun out to the boonies (code for inlaws house) for some break in shooting this turkey day.:D

Thats a great looking Remingtong. Congrats on it and never look back on what you paid if your happy and enjoying it then its worth every penny.

still :( waiting on my Mossberg 500.................................

Is the stock and forend wood? I like that look man that shoty looks great.:D

An exceptionally nice looking set of furniture you found- IMHO it really sets off a working shotgun. There's nothing more American or more businesslike than oil-finished walnut and parkerized steel.

Get a can of Johnson's paste wax or some other hard wax and go to work on the wood. I always give the end grain and inside areas a heavy coat when I have the furniture off as well, to protect those areas.

The wax will change the looks of the parkerizing if you get it on there though, so you might want to be careful. It fills the pores and will make the parkerized finish a little smoother and shinier looking.

Nice job on that one- now add some wear marks!

ETA- One important thing- if your gun did not have a stock bearing plate under the synthetic stock, as far as I know you will definitely need one for the wood stock to fill in the 1/16" or so of extra space at the back of the receiver. If it's needed and not in place, the back of the receiver will cause chips from recoil at the front edge of the stock.

See http://www.urban-armory.com/diagrams/rem870.htm , Part # 60 if you aren't sure what I'm talking about.

"...new take off wood..." Geezuz! Nice piece of wood. You did give money to the people who don't think you should be allowed to own any firearm though. E-Bay financially supports 'em.
"...a can of Johnson's paste wax..." Tung oil or BLO. Wax rubs off. Parkerizing/phosphating gets oil, not wax.

Thanks for letting me know about eBay and their anti gun tree huggin liberal ways. Did you know the owners of Domino's Pizza and Pilgrim's Pride Chicken are big supporters of those child molesting Catholics? I won't buy on eBay and you don't buy no yard bird and pizza from those folks that want you to be scared of an invisable man and like to penatrate with a foreign object.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

The taxes you pay in Canada financially supports a government that doesn't think you should own guns, right?

I've sold gun parts & gun related stuff on Ebay for several years. The income I've made from sales has bought and paid for several handguns & rifles.
Thanks Ebay!:D

Very nice...

... and now I suddenly want wood for my 870 Tactical Remington

(Reality is I wanted the extended tube and short barrel, but never particularly wanted the synthetics.)
