My New 3rd Variation Colt Detective Special

I just picked this up today on a local deal. The picture does not do this pistol justice. It is perfect in every way. It does not look like it was fired since it left the factory. The serial number puts its birth date in 1976. I paid $500.00 for it which I think is a fair price.

So that's what bluing is supposed to look like? That is a very nice revolver. I don't know colt prices, but I do know that is a nice revolver.

Fantastic! Still the Holy Grail of carry revolvers IMO-- small frame and 6 shot. About the only contender in this nearly abandoned genre since the DS is the new(ish) Rossi .357 snub which is a near dead-ringer to the iconic D-frame--having A-B'd them directly. Not trying to start a pro/anti Rossi thread, just pointing out how unique a 6 shot .38/.357-class small frame is these days. Enjoy, you've got a great gun!

Beautiful find! I would love to have one like that to go along with my nickel third gen DS. What a nice pair that would be!

Looks a lot like mine...I pad the exact same price too...:)

And you hammer is pristine like mine....in many of the pics I've seen the hammer is is discolored....

Absolutely beautiful! I just put a deposit on one myself! Paid more than you though! You got a great price!

I am not sure if mine has royal blue or not. It is the deepest, richest bluing that I have ever seen on a revolver though.

You could always send it to Colt. They'll refinish it to Royal Blue. Cost would be about $325, plus shipping both ways. 6-7 month wait, though.

:D :D :D :D

That Colt looks too good, probably has a real stiff trigger too. Mine is well broken in and has a trigger thats smooth as butter. Will gladly trade so you don't hurt your trigger finger!;)
