Picked it up a few days ago...Loaded 1911-A1 V-12....I love the "V" shaped muzzle flash it produces!!! Only 20 rounds thru it now, shoots a little low, I'll report on the grouping when I get a chance to really play with it. Anyway, just thought I'd show you...Gotta go shootin now!!!

Great gun and great picture, but boy, that really scared me when I saw that the safety was off! I thought it was about to blow the left side of my computer's monitor off! :D

Question: what causes a V-shaped muzzle flash? Is it comped?

How's the second shot follow up after the muzzle flash?Does this hinder night-time shooting should you need it for home defense?

Nice looking gun, the first 1911 I ever purchased was a Springfield V10 and mine shot 6 " low out of the box. I was younger and less experienced then so, I just got frustrated and sold it. I still think they are nice though.

Excellent gun. Too bad I live in the People's Republic of MA and 1911's (new ones anyway) are prohibited from sale because they lack "certain safety features". Anyway, isn't amazing that the 1911 is nearing 100 years old and is still as popular as it ever was? I still cherish my 10mm Delta Elite and my .45 Gold Cup.

Here's a good overhead pic that shows the ported barrel and slide: http://www.lisc.net/p515.htm (about half way down the page). I haven't shot it except at the range, the lighting was dim but the flash was not too bright....I don't know about home defense...I believe it was made more as a target pistol. The manual does not recommend the use of shot or frangible type bullets (due to the 12 holes in the barrel I suppose)...anyway I have a P99 for homedefense and if it's a long distance shoot out I have a Bushmaster M-4 A-2 with a thousand rounds of .223...I'll keep this 1911 on the range. It's amazing how little muzzle flip there is...very comfortable to shoot.

VV powder...

It has to do with the v shaped granuoles and the way you squeeze the trigger...If you have a good v-shape in your trigger finger, the shape of the blast will mimic the bend. Also...there was this v-shaped sight that must be used with this pistol...It also only allows you to produce a "flash" that is very similar to the -V- referenced above...

...just funnin'...sometimes thigs get a lil' too serous around here...
