My new 1849 Uberti Pocket

Took some pics of my new 1849 Uberti Pocket model today and wanted to share. :)

I've always loved the look of open top revolvers, but the large framed models just felt a little too big for my hands. This one feels perfect!

Eventually, I'll add a Kirst Conversion cylinder (.32) and a loading gate channel.
Unfortunately, I'm told the kits are currently on back-order. :(

hi
Very beautifull revovler, this version have a nice feeling from the Colt 's models.
Just grips are not so good featuring looks, but that's possible to custom them as well as possible.

Very nice looking piece. I think I have the 1860 Sheriff model in 44.

What is the difference in yours and a very similar model but called the Wells Fargo model, chich does not have a plunger to load the cylinder.

Just asking.

That's the only difference that I'm aware of. ;)

Very nice. You can strip the Uberti orange off the grips and stain them.

Look'n to do just that. ;)
Looks like it's just a matter of removing three screws to get the grip off.
Is that right?

Mighty Purdy gal, does she have a name yet?
Thanks!
Funny you should ask .... her name is Josey.
Named after "The Outlaw Josey Wales", who carried an 1849 Pocket in the movie.

I was actually thinking about having the name "Josey Wales" engraved on the back-strap. :D

Yes. Grips might be a little trouble to work off of back strap if they're tight.

Thanks!

A Goodish name. Wasn't Josie Wyatt Earp's second wife's name also?
I think I would just have Josie engraved, as that's actually her name.
Just my .02 worth

P.S. Would somebody please school this 'low-tech' redneck as to how to put in a "quote"? PM me.

Thanks ebr-lvr.
That's a good idea.

Highlight the text you want to quote, right click and copy.
Then paste it in your response, highlight it again, and click the "quote" icon located in the above toolbar. That's it! :)

ebr-lvr,

The icon looks like

.

To get fanicier and to identify the person you are quoting just type the following after the first word QUOTE that you see in the brackets:

=<userid> where the <userid> is the user's ID you are quoting.

To quote Clembert instead of
Clem's quoted message
Type:

Clem's quoted message
note: that space between /QUOTE and ] should be left out.

It will look like this:

I'm sorry but this is one "butt ugly" pistol . . . . I think you should get it out of your house immediately! Box it up as quick as you can and send it to me . . . I'll get rid of it for you! PM me for my address - I'll take care of it . . . no charge! :D

This is one sweet looking little pistol . . . it's on my "want list"! Enjoy and I hope you'll report back on it and let us know how it shoots! Thanks for the post! :)

Any better?

Well, I stripped the grips, applied dark walnut danish oil, let it sit overnight, and then applied several coats of tru-oil (using 0000 steel wool between coats).
Then on the final coat, I let it dry just enough to get "tacky" and rubbed it into the finish with a soft cotton cloth.

Any better?

And you probably can't tell from that pic, but I did have the name "Josey Wales" engraved on the backstrap. :D
Sorry, no pics on that ... it's a real b!tch trying to photograph shiney objects and still be able to read the engraving.
