My Muy Grande

I finally got a TRUE Trophy Buck

Here is a pic. Wow, I have wanted to harvest a buck like this for a long long time. I cannot wait until I get it back from the taxi and get in on the wall. I have a special place for it.

I scored this buck yesterday before I took it into the Taxi and want to point out up front that I AM NOT AN OFFICIAL SCORER.

That being said here is what it scored:

Gross: 154 4/8

Net: 151 2/8

I have always dreamed of getting a 150 class buck...

I harvested it with my CZ 6.5X55 topped with my Swaro. It ran about ten yards. This is one buck that actually seemed to grow when I reached it.

Gbro,

Texas term..below is the def.

muy gran·de Adjective

Plural: muy grandes

1.very large, enormous, very big, as big as all outdoors, gargantuan, mammoth, overwhelming, very sizeable, voluminous, whopping;

And yes I have found that the deer I have shot with my 6.5 Swede never run very far...it hits REAL hard and I simply love it.

Heh, that buck has a twin brother in Indiana. I was out on the porch the other day and he wandered by, chasing a doe that had walked past directly before. One of the nicest bucks I have seen in person, and a point-for-point wonderful tall-racked copy of yours.

I was kind of hoping he would charge me so I could defend myself, but he didn't, so I still have no muy grande.:D

Guys,

First thanks,

As for my heart stopping it did not have time. I had seen a couple of nice bucks earlier in the week that I passed on...a real wide 8 point..which was a little young and a narrow and young 10 point two days earlier. So when I initially saw this buck I lifted the binocs a little nonchalantly and saw that maybe he was a good one so I grabbed my rifle and looked through my scope at it...when I saw the G4's and how long they were I realized I was looking at a real big buck. I thought for a half a second about grabbing my camera and first getting a couple of good photos and then I remembered a couple of lost ops in the past so I immediately flipped the safety off and put the crosshairs just behind his shoulder and waited until the doe behind him cleared and even though he was not broadside I took the shot...twice in the past I have waited on a nice buck to take the PERFECT SHOT and never got a shot. Both times they slipped into cover never to be seen again. So I decided not to let it happen this time and as soon as the doe cleared I squeezed the trigger. He only ran about ten yards. I have to say that seeing the other nice bucks earlier this week and the fact that this all happened so fast helped me with my nerves because although it took me a few minutes to type this up this all happened in seconds this past Sat.

As far as scoring him...the only thing I thought was...wow this is a big one.

And my lease is just outside of Mason in TX.

Very nice, Dearhunter. Congrats! It will look fantastic on the wall.

Without seeing the body, I'm guessing about 4-4 1/2 yrs. old.

What do you think?
