Here are a few pics of my new 686 2.5. I know--so please don't tell me--the lock sucks. I picked it up new for $400, about $450 out the door.

I plan on bead-blasting it and putting some nice wooden grips on it. Now I just need to get back from Afghanistan so I can put some rounds through it.

Nice gun! You must be there fighting the war for our freedom here back in the US. If that is the case well then thank you for your service!

Nice...I have an original 2 1/2" 686 I bought in 88. I still love it!

And...a heart felt thank you for your service to our contry. God bless, and Godspeed coming home.

Thanks for the kind words!

I am in Afghanistan for military service. Thirty more days (give or take) and I can bring my company home.

I took leave at the beginning of January, and with a new sense of appreciation and perspective, I can definitely say that the United States is the greatest country in the world. It really is the little things you miss: radio, kids playing (all children, I don't have any), paved roads.

Well, that was way off topic. I bought it when I was on leave, and my wife taunts me occasionally by telling me how sweet it shoots. I told her she owes me grips for shooting it before I had the chance; any suggestions on a manufacturer?

Regards,

Indigo

I would suggest that you pick up a set of grips that would serve to remind you every day of this great country. The Free Spirit that makes us strong, the strength that is to be found in protecting the ones you love. Say, a set of buffalo horn, or elk horn grips from http://www.eaglegrips.com

I have an extra set of the Smith & Wesson "Memory Groove" wood stocks for a round butt K/L frame.

Send me your address and I will mail them to you...a "Thank You" for serving.

:)

Thanks for your service I hope you make it home safe along with all your friends.

I think you'll find that the 686 2 1/2 inch is an excellent revolver. I have one that is a 7 shot and its great. I think you will really enjoy it. Don't worry about the lock my two most recent purchases have had the lock and they are fine. Hell, some times I actually use the lock.

Great Gun! great grips, I have the same Hogues on a 3" 65! Bring the company home safe Cap. and give them all of our thanks and God bless all of you! Tell 'em to keep it wired tight for 30 more days, since it's obvious ya'll have already done it for at least 335! ;)
