My latest GunBroker score,,,

Tuesday of this week I was perusing Gunbroker,,,
I was looking for a .22 revolver for my friend to buy.

In that search I saw a Hawes, J. P. Sauer western revolver in .22 LR,,,
I already own a near twin of this revolver in .357 Magnum,,,
The only difference is the 22 has a 5 1/2" barrel,,,
The .357 Magnum has a 6 1/2" barrel.

I only paid $125.00 for the .357 Magnum six-shooter,,,
After shipping/transfer I'll get the .22 for $252.00.

The .357 is that good German work,,,
If this .22 is as fine a gun as the .357 is,,,
It's going to be a welcome addition to my cabinet.

Anyone who knows me at all realizes,,,
I am a sucker for matching rimfire/centerfire pairs,,,
As far as I can tell from the pictures the .22 is near identical,,,
The only difference I can see is the 1" barrel length and the stocks.

Close enough to make me a very happy camper indeed,,,
I won the auction at 2:04 local Oklahoma time,,,
The money order has been purchased,,,
I just need a copy of my LGS's FFL.

Now comes the difficult part,,,
Waiting for the dang thing to arrive.

Now I hafta make another holster.

Nice find.
Those ole' Hawes are plenty good, especially for the prices they sell for.
Too bad they are no longer available new.
The frames were cast, maybe, but they held up just fine, even in .44 Mag.
Enjoy.

Hey, not fair!
You go shopping on Gunbroker, and it's all flowers and rainbows!
When you come across a sweet find in your local shop, it's "evil pawnshop guy!" :p And you cash and carry, no wait!

The guy is far from evil!
I can just see me walking in to a random pawn shop in Oklahoma one day, and realizing that THIS is the guy who's poor name has been dragged through the mud!

If only he knew! :p

Anyway, nice find. Be sure to tell the pawn shop guy that you can't afford his next wonderful find...because you have been shopping on Gunbroker! :D

Oh Sevens,,, How you misjudge me,,,,,

Oh Sevens,,,
How you misjudge me.

I popped into The Evil Pawn Shop yesterday after work,,,
I needed to pick up a copy of his FFL for the seller of the Hawes.

While he was printing one out and signing it for me,,,
I wandered over to the glass display cases,,,
And ended having him hold a revolver.

Believe me when I say,,,
He always gets a good portion of my disposable fun money. ;)

The gun is nothing to write home to Mom about,,,
But it will make a nice graduation gift for a friend of mine.

She's a new plinking buddy of mine,,,
She will graduate with her BS this December,,,
The gun is a short barrel Heritage .22 with pink birds-head grips.

I'll pick it up this evening after work,,,
His guarantee to buy it back and the good price sold it.
So I'll get it this evening and take it to the range tomorrow morning,,,
If it turns out to be a turkey he'll buy it back for the same price I paid him for it.

I started calling him The Evil Pawn Shop Guy because of his wicked sales tactics,,,
He figures out what you like and then dangles it in front of your face,,,
In the first few months of his ownership he sold me 4 S&W's,,,
He figured out I am a sucker for J and K frame revolvers.

I went in one time just to buy some ammo and peruse the handgun display cases,,,
I didn't even make it to the cases when he said, "Don't bother looking.",,,
"I have just what you are hunting for right over here".

I said something on the order of,,,
"Oh sure you do, what do you have that I can't live wit,,, ooooh!"

He dangled a pristine 4" model 12 in front of me,,,
He had it under the counter waiting for me to show up,,,
"Now don't feel pressured to buy this, but I thought I would give you the first look.

That cost me $400.00 real fast,,,
He's evil, evil I say!

I sent a member of this forum a PM about a Colt revolver he had,,,
I just happened to be in the store when he called and asked for The Evil Pawn Shop Guy.

David burst out laughing and they made the deal right then.
Now he's had several calls like that and enjoys his new moniker.

In reality he (David Austin) is a very savvy person,,,
He knows how to treat his customers with courtesy and fairness,,,
He has many loyal customers and his business is doing very well because of that.

If you ever find yourself in Stillwater, Oklahoma,,,
Visit Best Pawn & Trading Company on Perkins Road,,,
Go in and ask if this is The Evil Pawn Shop and check out his wares.

Aarond, I assumed exactly that, but thank you for taking the time to write it out anyhow. Your evil pawn shop guy deserves the effort! :)

I'm sorry that I don't know my Oklahoma geography without referring to a map, but have you had the pleasure of the J.M. Davis Firearms Museum in Claremore, Oklahoma? If yes... then you know! If no -- then see if your calender/schedule allows for a day trip. That place blew my mind, and I think you might agree if you saw it.

As always, I very much enjoy hearing of your exploits and your very giving nature. I applaud all the young(ish) folks that you've introduced to shooting.

Maybe I walk slow,,,

Maybe I walk slow,,,
When I went to the J. M. Davis gun museum,,,
I couldn't see it all in the one day I had to tour the place.

I saw styles and types of guns I didn't know existed,,,

Definitely a must-see for all gun nuts!

It's about a two hour drive from Stillwater,,,
It's been several years so I think I'm due another trip.

Later my friend.
