My latest addiction........

In my current addiction treatment plan I find that If I work enough off duty to pay for a beat up old used revolver a month I'm good for awhile. Anyway I went to my favorite used emporium and WOW. I had to decide which one. They had;

S&W 27 4" nickel, about 90% for 339.00
S&W 610 4" w/o lock new for 579.00
S&W M&P refinished 32-20, this looked great 199.00
S&W M&P refinished nickel 2 inch(whacked) 179.00
S&W 13 4" 98% 269.00
S&W used 696 no dash 369.00

After lots of contemplation I plunked down the cash for the 696. How does the old 7.5 gr of Unique work in these?

696 no dash

That's one heck of a price on a 696 no dash, my friend! Good for you!
You will like that revolver, guaranteed.

I think I'm in an area that prefers autos or single actions for hunting. I did'nt realize it until I started reading on this and other forums that the prices around here for revolvers was so low. Good thing I guess. Some of my friends think I'm nuts but I know if needed that good revolvers always have a market.

My latest treatment for the revolver junkie was the purchase of a pristine Freedom arms model 83 feild grade with a 4 3/4 inch barrel fixed sights chambered for the 454. I got this one at a bargin price of $850 in LNIB condition , The fixed sights have not even been adjusted.

M27-2 was what I recently tried to acquire. It went north of $700.00. I bought a 6" M28-2 instead. I gave $380.00 w/S&H. $25.00 4473 fee. $405.00 total. I then bought a set of wooden grips on top of that.

Smokin54, I truly hate you! Well, not really. I am just very, very jealous. I would love a Freedom arms .454!

What city are you in? I see "NW Arkansas" but that still a wide area. I live NE of Tulsa. The Tulsa area doesn't have any reasonably priced gunstores where I can go and see used S&W's for a great price. I walk in to the local stores and immediately start thinking "I could do a lot better on gunbroker" and I walk back out. I could drive to AR to look around. Well, crap, we are talking handguns.... I guess I could pay for one in AR and then have it shipped to my dealer in Tulsa. I would have to pay shipping that way but it would be worth it for a deal like that 696!

No hard feelings

Not that's it's not an excellent revolver, it's just how many .357's does a man need?

Maybe pick-up a M57 instead !!

I have K and N frame S&Ws and J frame Colts..I have a M28-2 S&W but, I still want a M27 someday. I have an affection for S&W K frames. I only have 6. A 696 is a neat little powerful package. I think those prices are good.

Model 27

Sir William,

I saw a mint model 27 4" in Ohio for $ 375.00. At aplace called The Ten Ring in Xenia, Ohio. Look 'em up they probably still have it, give 'em a call.

Just FYI

Funny you should mention Ohio. You ever shopped at Jaquas? I got a S&W 32 in nickel there once. It was $35.00. They acted like it was too cheap to be in their store. Nice place to window shop.

I'm serious about the Model 27, they said it came from the widow of an old retired police officer. At the time I just blew my wad on a Model 25 mountain gun, that's the only reason I did'nt pick it up.

I would normally jump on that 27. I have picked up a pair of Police Positives, a Lawman MKIII, a M28-2, I am getting a M19-4 and a M15. My dog and I like to eat. That store has a good reputation in Xenia.

Greg

I haunt the pawn shops around Sprindale, Fayetteville, and Fort Smith usually. Sometimes I get down to Russellville as well. I'll be in Broken Arrow in 2 weeks for drill for 4 days. How close is that to you?
