My $innovative$ idea for the AR-15???

Onslaught

I have a pre-ban bushmaster shorty with the collapsible stock. I take my buddies shooting all the time, and they LOVE it! Most of them are pistol guys, so I have to explain (over and over) the difference between pre and post ban, flash supressor and muzzle brake, etc. Most of them could care less for the flash supressor or bayonet lug, but they always get this disappointed look on their faces when I show them what a Post-ban stock looks like.

Why doesn't somebody get smart and make a COMPLETELY NON-COLLAPSIBLE stock that looks like a collapsible one? I doubt you could modify an existing one, because the legality of being able to remove the screw, bolt, glue, plug, whatever that keeps it from collapsing would be there. But if there was a product that didn't collapse, never collapsed, couldn't collapse, that was one piece but LOOKED a lot like the pre-ban ones, I personally believe they would sell THOUSANDS of them!

Agree? Disagree? Got connections? (not that I'd get any royalties from it, but I should!)

Hate to kill your buzz, Onslaught, but it's been done. KAC makes a non-collapsable CAR stock, as do a few other makers (ASA??)

Myself, I don't see the point. Now maybe an AR15 stock that could collapse by one or two inches, sort of a length-of-pull adjustment. THAT would be cool!

or you could have one buffer tube & 4 different length stocks that could slide over the tube.

I also understand that you can take the 4 position stock and size it like you want it - then epoxy the stock to that position and it would then be "legal"...

(consult your local DA before doing that... but I understand it flys in VA)

To be honest, ChrisII, I was hoping someone would tell me they already existed! You wouldn't happen to know where I could see/order one, would you? I think you're idea would be cool also, but where would BATF draw the line between adjustable and collapsible?

Also... George, I'll have to check on that one. If that's the case, that too would be an option, but I will have to check it THOUROUGHLY first, because it just sounds too easy. Anything that could be converted back to pre-ban would, in my case, be a no-go for Big Brother.

Thanks for the input guys, and if anybody can suggest a link so's I could take a look...

They are available from Armalite. I ordered and installed one on my Bushy Shorty AK. I did it for two reasons, first I prefer a shorter length pull that this stock provides and second, the sling I'd choosen works much better with the CAR Stock.
The example I have has been drilled and pinned to make it non-adjustable.

You can get the "Post-ban CAR stock" from a lot of sources, including most completion kits (J&T, Model 1, Rock River, etc.)

Here's what mine looks like with a post-ban non-collapsable CAR stock:
