Recently I purchased parts to build an AR platform rifle in 5.56. I chose to utilize a hydraulic buffer but I tried to use the standard spring that came with the solid non hydraulic buffer. Now I can only open the bolt about half the way. Please let me know if there is a spring set made just for the hydraulic buffer or have I perhaps purchased the wrong buffer for the rifle?

Spring should be fine, check to see if something else is binding. How far did you take it down to change the buffer?
 
Make sure the two halves (upper and lower) are mated properly and the take-down pins properly inserted. Next see if you can remove the stock and buffer-tube extension, perhaps your buffer-retainer pin is protruding too high if the buffer tube wasn't screwed in to the right length. Be careful, it may fly off as you remove the buffer tube and buffer.
