My idea for a cheap Glock 40

I like 10mm Auto. I think from a long slide pistol with a long sight radius and a long barrel to increase velocity it would make for an amazingly powerful and accurate pistol.

I also like Glock's because they're very reliable and lightweight and because they're easy to convert to other cartridges.

Glock makes the 10mm Auto in a longslide in the model 40, but brand new it costs almost $700 and it's only in the Gen 4 configuration.

But I have an idea! Used Glock 21's are very reasonably priced and available in the Gen 3. Then, Lonewolf makes a complete longslide upper for Glock 20's to basically make them a Glock 40 and they don't have the non-standard rifling in Glock barrels meaning they'll be safe to shoot the heavy hard cast lead bullets.

Since the Glock 20 and 21 are the same frame, I can take the longslide upper for the 20 and put it on a 21 and have one gun that shoots .45 ACP and 10mm Auto for a price just a few hundred more than the standard Glock 40 that can't be converted to .45 ACP.

What do you fellas think of my idea?

How much can you find a Glock 21 for? I'm seeing them for $500 doing a quick Google search. So you'll spend $500 plus $200 for the blank slide, $100 for slide parts, $125 for the barrel, $50 on sights for the slide and before too long you've spent $1,000. I couldn't find the "complete" slide you mention so feel free to correct my cost estimates.

I cheated and just bought a used Glock 20 for $500. Yeah I'd rather have the long slide model 40 but I couldn't justify spending 40% more for a 6" barrel rather than a 4.6" one.

The cost saving is if I own a Glock 21 then all I have to do is spend about $500 for the fully assembled slide and viola, I gots me a Glock 40 for $200 less.

Your original post mentions the price of used Glock 21's with no mention of already owning one...

If you already own the 21 great, but I'd I'm sure most people would rather spend the extra money on a second gun rather than an extra slide. If the complete slide was only $200 to $300 it'd be a reasonable option but at $500 I can't see it being a popular option.

Don't forget the slide melt and the RMR for an extra $800 or so....

lol.

I just ordered an Alpha Wolf threaded barrel for my Glock 20. They look sweet.

I've had a 20 sf for 4 years and, well, it's nicely built and all that--I went for it because of the tremendous energy potential of 15 high-power 10 mm rounds. I have several 10 mm barrels for it--my favorite barrel is the 9 x 25 dillon. Either way, I find that for me getting a good steady grip and consistent, accurate shots is very challenging in the 20sf.
