My grand baby wants to shoot

I'm so happy! I'm going to buy a single shot bolt action rifle for her. She's 10 going on 11 and a very good stable youngster.
Iron sights to begin with. shooting off a rest to get her familiarized with the process. Then move on to off-hand.

I'm blessed that my wife and daughter enjoy the sport also!

didn't state caliber/round

Sorry, I didn't mention what I will start her out. I figured .22lr to start, followed with some .308. Just to make sure she's paying attention, I think some 7mm Rem. Mag. to follow.:D

I do look forward to this.:D:D

Still have a bit of wait since she is only 2 going on 3.

My Eldest touched off my .45 flintlock at the ripe old age of 3, than giggled maniacly....... she's 15 now, and has taken 4 deer and a couple of turkeys... don't wait forever!

Thats great to hear

We have to show our younger generation how shooting is a great sport/hobby and gun safety.

Big thumbs up to you for that:)

My 4YO Granddaughter was perusing the CDNN catalog last week. She picked out a pink gripped pistol(of course) but said she needed both a blackened Stainless and plain Stainless cause she couldn't decide which she liked better. Sounds like the need for many pairs of shoes, right?
At least she's got the right idea.
Both my Sons and Daughter had a 22 rifle before they were 1 YO and started shooting as soon as strong enough to hold the rifle. Daughter was the most bloodthirsty hunter of the three.

Some of my greatest joy is the time I get to spend at the range with my grandchildren, passing along a hobby and a part of our family tradition.

Good on ya! Teaching grandkids keeps the traditions alive.

These are great times !!

Not only is it a joy to share these times, it's a blessing. My one Grandson is now eligible to take his Hunter Safety course, this spring and I will have the pleasure of signing his certificate. Two weeks ago, he got a 22lb. turkey and he just blew it off as no big deal. He has the eye and a great cheek-weld. I too started him out on open sights. Just wish I clould slow him down on shooting Starlings. ......

Be Safe !!!

Thats great. I just started my 7 y/o daughter with a pistol last weekend. Just a little piece of advise, right or wrong this is what I did with all my kids. Scare them a little. Give her a screwdriver and tell her to stick it through a 2x4. She will see how hard that is to do. Then let her shoot the 2x4. Explain to her how powerful and dangerous that little tiny .22 bullet can be. Shoot some bottles of soda and watch them explode. Anything you can think of to show her the carniage that a bullet can cause. Stress safety every chance you get. The things that are second nature to you she has never had to think about.
The other thing. First rifle I shot was a 30-06 at 10 y/o. Kicked the crap out of me and it took me 10 years to break the habit of flinching before I squeezed the trigger

I remember my first shot was a double barrel iver johnson 16 gauge. At 12 years old i was hooked and im thankfull today for that. I started my nephew off on a marlin model 60 stock i had laying round so he learned how to hold it and get a good cheek weld. Fun times enjoy every second you can!

Thanks one and all! We're going to the range this weekend. I agree with impressing her just how much power she is dealing with. We're going to shoot some reactive targets, and, if we get some much needed rain, are going to set off some Tannerite wanabee stuff at 200 yds.( Papa will be pulling the trigger on his .308:D)for fun.
She's everything I could ever hoped for as a grand-child.:) I have every bit of confidence she'll do great.
