my Glock Alter is crumbling

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Just kidding..kinda.
resently found some 10mm PMC 170gr JHP's CHEAP. Figured since it was cheaper than UMC FMJ and almost a hot as my carry load it would make an excelent practice round. Guess what..it wont feed for $hit. Just my luck. I thought my Glock was infalable. Never thought I would see the day when it wouldnt go BANG. I'm not sure if I just got a bad batch, or if its just a type of ammo that my Glock dosnt like, but it just wont feed right. The round seems to go into the chamber a little ruff and usualy leaves my slide out of battery just a little bit. Slap it home with my palm and it shoots for a round or 2 and the same thing. Everything is in spec on the cartridge but the nose is a little more square than most 10mm, guess its catching on the inside roof of the chamber as it goes in. Oh well...guess Glocks arent entirely mystical afterall:) Still love it and it still shoots other ammo 100%

I have little experieince with the 10mm but you may have an off specs box of ammo. If so the wild pomeranian proved that glocks wont feed defective ammo a long time ago. If the specs are right then you may have found a brand and bullet type that your glock 20 doesn't like. either way thats why practice and experimentation are heavily recommended with any defensive weapon.

Maybe your recoil spring is just a little tired. A friend?s 1911 started doing the same thing and it turned out to be the recoil spring. He replaced the spring and the offending load began loading appropriately.

PSSSTT..dont take yourselves so seriously all the time. I have had my Glock for about over 2 years with narry a hiccup. This resent range trip just shatered my Glocks infalable image (yes i knew it would happen sometime..just hoped I could always say my Glock was perfect)
BTW...I mic'ed the ammo..its within spec acording to my Speer reloading manual.

NOPE

Just a gun, one that doesn't like that particular load.

Still laughing about the time it was raining during an IPSC match and a Glock-snob was spouting off about his 'infallible' Glock (M35, if memory serves).
Well, he had a gun-pukin' day, and he nearly cried (I mean actual tears!)

Glocks are much better than most brands about ammo-feed, but one MUST understand "..........but not always.........."

No problems with the extractor, brand new recoil spring, wrist just fine...just dont like that ammo.
I just rechecked the dimensions of the bullet. The only thing different is that there is less diference between the base of the bullet and the tip at the opening of the hollowpoint than in most 10mm rounds. In other words its less of a trapazoid and more of a cylinder. I just thought it was inda funny that my (up till now) 100% reliable Glock desided to develope a bad case of indigestion on the best ammo deal I have ever found. Anyone know if Glock does refinishing on Factory option alters?
My P99 has still yet to fail <fingers crossed> But all I have shot in it is Cor-bon's, 127gr +p+ SXT's and Lawmen FMJ.

Still seems wierd to me. I shoot the 10mm PMC 170s all the time in my Glocks - never had a problem.

However, when I reload the PMC brass I have noticed it is measurably thicker than WW or Starline, and if I don't properly crimp, I have the exact problem you describe above.

So . . . I'd measure the diameter of the brass about midway down where the bullet sits, and see if IT'S in spec.

Otherwise, you could send the ammo and gun back to Glock for a look see.

Good luck.

THAT'S SO CUTE

You expect Glock to 'fix' it LOL.

Experience says ".....in MY gun.....", never "....in ALL guns...."

All guns dont feed and shoot all cartridges well.

The Glock is probably better than a lot of guns when it comes to feeding a wide range of cartridges.

I wouldn't worry about this at all. It is not a problem. Just dont put those cartridges in your gun. Don't send it back to Glock, and dont make any adjustments to your gun.

good advise all, thats exactly what I intend to do Longgunman.
But why does a gun with a perfect track record over 2 years have to suddenly develope a bad attitude ove rhte ammo deal of the century. Curse the shooting gods!!!

The problem is the PMCheap ammo. Do not attempt to shhot the rest of it.

I had the same issue with their 40 S&W. Ran into a lot that would not chamber. Same bullet different case.
There is nothing wrong with you pistol, springs etc.
I can't comment on your wrist but then again I stay away from pistol models that are sensitive to that aspect of how they are held during firing.

Other fun stuff I have seen personally with PMcheap ammo.
Jacket separtions, key holing (never figured that one out), some split cases with some 357 Mag ammo.

Regardless of the great edxperiences others have with PMCheap I refuse to buy a product that has shown indications it might represent a threat of damaging my firearmrs or me.
