My GF and I both have Mossberg 500's

But she feels the but stock is to long for her...

Anyone have any good ideas?

*Places to get a shorter replacement one, ways to trim down the one she already has, any other suggestions!*

Thanx everyone!

I put a Hogue short LOP stock on my 500 and really like it. I had a m4 style collapsible on it before and while it was nice I just prefer a full stock instead of a pistol grip.

Personally, I wouldn't cut down the original stock if you will ever sell the gun. You can get a stock on Ebay that somebody has taken off to turn their Mossberg into a mall ninja weapon. Wait until the right one comes along (maybe one a little dinged up and is lower priced), cut it down, and put on a grind-to-fit recoil pad. Cutting and grinding is something an average guy can do. That way, you can always put the original stock back on if you want to sell it.

The stock won't ruin a 500 resale value. Heck unless you say something many 500 buyers would never know:rolleyes:
Plastic stocks can be tuff to trim due to the hollow leaving just a little rim.
Havlin sales has wooden stocks new for a bargain. Can be cut easily and if the gun is a black one then it can also be painted.

Hogue makes a 12" LOP stock for it- see http://www.getgrip.com/main/overview/shotgun.html .

Speedfeed makes a Youth set with a 13" LOP- see http://www.speedfeedinc.com/?location=products .

Mossberg used to make what they called Bantam stocks for youth guns- their website is almost unmanageable, so you're on your own for that one.

With wooden stocks, any decent gunsmith can cut one down to fit and install a grind-to-fit premium recoil pad. That's my preferred approach...

Go to "web specials" link on left column...
On this page he has a Bantam stock for 22 dollars.
Mr.Havlin is the go to guy for low dough mossberg stocks...

I have a 590 and 500, both great shotguns. Most of the parts and or different stock can be purchased from Midway, Hogue and Knoxx. I bought a telescoping stock for my 590 as well as different sites because my wife somethimes uses the weapon for practice. My wife is about 5' 3" and 115 LBS so the telescoping stock was a must! :D

There are many different stocks, foreends and amenities that can be purchased and it will not devalue the gun! I really like mine as it was also the type (Mossburg 590 Tactical) I carried at times before I retired from the Military.:) It held up great and was ALWAY reliable! GREAT SHOOTING

Thanx for the tips guys....

My GF has made a decision , and I'm not surprised, She wants a the telescoping pistol grip stock....

Sigh...

Thats cool. I'll have fun shooting her gun:D
