The first picture is of my first deer taken with a rifle. My firearm of choice was my 7600 chambered 35 whelen. He dressed out at 144lbs. The second picture is of my first deer ever. His final dressed weight was 148lbs. This deer was kneeling shot taken with my bow from the ground at 20 yards. It was pretty cool I only had an hour to hunt after I got out of work early. I went into a new piece of woods that my buddy recommended. Found a game trail and followed it until it went into some thick blueberry bushes. So I backed up and set up with only one shooting lane. I was there for only 45 minutes when I heard deer crashing through the woods towards me. I prepared myself in case I was given a shot. The first two deer went by running full tilt right through my only shooting lane. I heard one more deer walking a little slower towards my lane so I drew my bow when his head went behind a big pine. Then he grunted just before he stepped out into the shooting lane telling me it was a buck. He stepped right into view. I put the pin behind the shoulder and let it fly. I heard the loud thwack and he took off only to crash 20 yards behind me. I couldn't believe it after three years of hunting and way to many mistakes I finally got my first deer and it was with a bow. The arrow took out the top of both lungs and he was down for the count in less than 60 seconds. Thanks for reading to my story.
