My first Taurus...

Well, just thought I'd post my experience so far. I've read many, many posts on them. I have experience from my Father's Millenium Pro and feel it's less than a great gun (would FTF about 1 round of every clip). But, I wanted a 44 magnum just for the fun of it...so my toy dealer got me a new one for 495. I absolutely LOVE it. We've only got a box of ammo through it so far, but I don't have any complaints. We were only shooting 15 yards, but I was able to put hole on top of hole several times. I consider that good considering I'm still not used to the gun.

Might I also say that I'm fairly surprised. I thought the recoil would knock me back. Honestly, it hurts more to shoot my LCP! My 12yo son loves it. I think my next purchase will be a S&W 460. :D

I just wanted to post my thoughts on my Taurus though. I didn't start this to debate the issue as that horse has been beaten, brought back to life, and beaten back to death 50x here already. So far I'm VERY happy with this purchase. Right now I have 9 guns and 8 are different brands, so I'm not loyal to any one brand. I buy based on my needs/wants and what fits those.

My experience has been 50/50 with two revolvers. One was good and one would bind up and because the "bad" one was for my wife I was taking no chances so I spent a bundle on a J Frame S&W M&P 360 which is real nice. I would get another but not for a "bet my life on it" situation.

I have the PT140 Millenium Pro that I picked up from a guy for $150 and since I bought it I've been doing my best to get it to malfunction in some way.

So far, I'm still working at it. She's had over 2k rounds through it when I bought it and was never cleaned. I put another 200 through it with a little cleaning and still shoots like it was new. I still hate the pistol, and finally found a buyer for it.
But hey man, if the shoe fits! Sounds like it was a good purchase!

I have two , a 709 Slim and a 24/7 Pro Ds, and I wouldn't sell them for anything. Colorado dude get off the mountain top, oxygen is not getting to your brain.:D You got a smoking deal that shoots perfect and you want to get rid of it.?????

I have a PT-1911 which is extremely accurate and well made. No failures of any kind with any ammo after about 1200 rounds.

I've got 5 Taurus revolvers and love all of them. 3 of the 5 are carry weapons, so I have no issue trusting my life to them. No failures, and they have the best triggers of any other DA revolvers I own, far superior to my 2 SP101's, and are extremely accurate.

Some like 'em, and some don't. A lot depens on past experiences with Taurus, and they sure seem to be "hit and miss" on quality.

I had an early model 66 (?) in .357 mag, and was totally disappointed in it. Started out tight, and shot loose very quickly. When I got rid of it, it was by far the most loose, rickety feeling firearm I'd every handled.

That, with something like 500 rounds through it.

My current Taurus "experiment" is a lightweight snub in .32 H&R mag that a buddy talked me into trading for. When I got it, it would FTF on 2-3 out of a 6 shot cylinder. I did some work on the hammer, and since then it's been funtioning 100%. Like a poster above said, the DA trigger pull is great; even better than my j-frame Smith.

Taurus is definitely not something I'd buy as an only firearm, or even as an only brand, but they apparently can be ok shooters when you get a good one, or one you can make good.

I'm still shooting this one, so I reckon time will tell.

I'm not a Taurus hater, nor a Taurus lover. I've shot a fewautos and one revolver. They were very good shooters. I took a chance and bought a 709 slim almost 2 yrs ago. It didn't work when I got it, but a trip back to Taurus and it's been totally reliable now and is everything I wanted it to be.
I carry it everyday.

Had two taurus revolvers and will never buy another one. Was not pleased with them. I have many guns that I shoot alot and usally carry a diffrent gun every day. If I cant put my trust into a gun I dont want it. Now a buddy has a pt99ss, i think. and its a very smoth shootin and reliable gun. never had it jam.

Congrats on the new gun. I had a few Taurus revolvers, all had their own little issues. Some were serious, like bad timing and binding, others were minor, screws walking and bad ejectors. When they did work well they were fine. However I will say, I've swore off Taurus forever.

Not to side track this thread, but those of you that have had bad luck with your Taurus guns,When was this?. I know nothing of pistols when i got mine, but i do have a very good gun smith i deal with. He said same thing,Back a time ago Taurus really sucked, but now with the new ones he says they are probebly the most under rated gun out there. Which is what gets me to ask this question. The bad ones, were they from back then or were they new ones?. I have a new(2 years old now) PT1911 i havve thousands of rounds down it and the only FTF i had was a cheap store baught round. And that was only once. Now i reload and have never had a issue with it and it is very accurate. Just kinda intrested in what you guys have to say

You're still buying Taurus?

Well, you can't say you were not warned.

I suppose it is 'News' when a T pistol actully works properly.

warningshot--Thats what i mean..What do you have to back up your statement?.word of mouth?,did you own one?,old one,new one?. At this point in time i woudl put mine up against anything you have round for round,Acurracy and all. Give me data not just words. And if it was a old or new one.

This was NOT meant to be another bashing thread. We have plenty of those. I was just posting my own experience. So far... I like this gun. Next up is probably a S&W 460. This gun was meant as nothing more than a "toy". A big, powerful gun to have fun with.

On a side note, the Ruger LCP that I bought the same day jammed (FTF) about 40 rounds out of 50. Took it back to the shop, they replaced the clip and polished the feed ramp. It's good so far.

Yes i agree.Lets not turn this into a bashing thread. I just wanted facts instead of storys. I love mine too. Works like a charm. After having it 2 years now,i would not think twice about buying another one.:)
