Went to a big gun show (well big for around here anyway) today but didn't see much in my price range. In fact the only thing in my price range were a few beat .22 rifles, beat up Marlin lever actions (at least the ones I was interested in were beat) and a few SKS rifles. Looked at a few of the SKSs and found one the guy was asking $350+ tax. It was a Yugoslavian M59/66 and looked near mint. Picked it up and looked it over and realized all visible serial number were matching, looked down the bore and it was bright and shiny. The wood is really nice with no dings and matching number on the butt stock. Took a look at the leather sling and there's writing on it in what appears to be pencil and definitely isn't English (in fact if any one can decode the writing I'd be interested in what it says) may be a name but I can't make heads or tails of it. Took me about an hour to decide to go back and see what the guy's best deal on the rifle was, I ended up picking it up for $345 tax included so I saved myself about $30. I know I could have picked the rifle up for under $100 15-20 years ago and I'm kicking myself for not buying a crate of them when they were that cheap. I probably over paid a bit today but there weren't many of them there and this was one of the few with all it's parts still on the rifle and the only one at the show with the sling. All the Yugo SKS rifles were in the $300-$350 range and they seemed to be selling pretty quick. From what I've been able to find out on the SKS boards it was built in 1974, seems to be in really good shape for an almost 40 year old rifle. So without further adieu, here she is:
