My first shotgun is home!

Hello everybody!
I just got my first shotgun today!
I got a Mossberg 500A. I was actually looking for one with only a 28" barrel, but my local dealer just had in stock a combo with the 28" and a 18 1/2" barrels, now I have few more newbie questions to ask.

Should I dissemble the action and cleaning as far as the owner’s manual recommends before any shooting? (I did it with my 22 rifle but not sure if I should with my shotgun)?

On the stock and forearm the wood seems to be kind of unfinished, I mean is not shiny as the one in my .22 rifle, Is that ok?. What type of product should I use on it in order to protect it against moisture and make it shine?

Anything I should know about?

All opinions, comments, suggestions would be very useful and welcome
Thanks in advance
Regards

Clean it. Excess lube turns into grunge fast.

Shiny stocks are for the range and the gun cabinet. Leave yours low sheen for real world use.

Nice shotgun, enjoy....

Congatulations! Welcome to the Brotherhood of the Well Armed.

Go put 100 rounds through it and meditate on ballistics for one hour.

Sounds like we bought the same thing. Mine was sold as " The security combo pack" Of course that was 14 years ago. never have regretted my purchase. take good care of it and you will be teaching your kids and maybe your grand kids to shoot with it. -UR.
