Funny Range story

My first Modern revolver was a Taurus model 66 357 mag. I bought it used this was sometime in the 80's. Nice blued steel 6 inch barrel. Waited the 15 days (California) and same day as pickup I headed to the range with two boxes of ammo. I had been a black powder shooter and I thought Recoil of the 357 was a little on the stout side but manageable. Fired all 100 rounds went home cleaned the gun. Pretty happy........Til...

Next day upon waking my right shoulder and elbow were so sore LOL

Gary, you are not the only one who may be a little stiff after putting 100 rounds of .357 Magnum ammo down range. At 65 I've mostly switched to hot 38 special ammo in my K frame revolvers, it's easier on me and the guns. I have to admit though, from time to time, I really get a kick out of touching of a few full house Magnum rounds.

First revolver .22 H&R fortyniner love it and still have it perfect for rats in the barn or just going out and planking

GaryEd50 - I've shot BP for 50 years and love my '51 Navies I've had over the years. A few years ago, I finally broke down and got a "new modern cartridge gun" - my first cartridge handgun is the 1910 mfgr. date Colt Army Special. I have had three .357s total and at 61, I just hate the recoil. I figure "if it ain't fun, why abuse yourself?". :)

I still hav 2 .357s - a New Vaquero SAA that I love and a Python 4" that never gets shot. But I only run 38s through my NV. I love the 38 spl. and like reloading them - have casted bullets, minies and rb for 50 years also. I now have a number of "vintage" 38s - Colt and Smiths and I enjoy shooting them but I stick to lighter target/plinking loads. A week ago, a friend and I went shooting and I put 250 rounds of target loads through my Smith M & P - a pleasurable afternoon of shooting! I'd hate to think what I'd feel like the next day if those had been 357s!. :roll eyes:

I admire those that can take the recoil, etc. of the Mag loads - the older I get, the more i discover the things I can't do that I used to all the time. I used to shoot NSSA and I can well remember getting up the next morning after a shoot and my shoulder would be bruised up. Now, I just have enough to do to get up let alone look in the mirror after I'm upright! :D

Are you still shooting 357s? If so . . . I congratulate you! :)

Hot 357 rounds are a little much, have always loved 38 special with them, make the day great, lol.
Great thing for getting a revolver though, i only own two .22 MK II,s and no only autos myself.
Love those single actions though, the very best.
