I bought my first Kimber about 5 or 6 years ago, a standard Custom Classic lightly altered by me with smooth coco bolo grips, a smooth steel mainspring housing, and a drop in metal trigger. It was an important event in my shooting life because up until that purchase and subsequent firing of that pistol I had convinced myself that I was a revolver guy and simply could not shoot autos for some reason. Colts, Smiths, Glocks, Tauri, tried many many makes and models and calibers but my revolver groups were always half that of my autos. Then I read an article in some gun rag about the Kimbers and decided what the Hell. Well my groups with the Kimber were about half that of my revolver groups. I was pretty amazed and since then had gotten over whatever psychological block was in place such that I shoot all my handguns pretty much up to my own skill level. Some months ago I got it in my head that I had to have some other gun (can't even remember what it was now) so I sold that Kimber. What a dumba**. Luckily I sold it to my father-in-law who I was semi-confident would hold on to it until I wanted it back. When he asked what I wanted for my birthday this year I said I wanted him to sell it back to me at the price I sold it to him for. So there it is, back in my safe, shoots as well as ever and will never leave my possession again until I depart this earth.
