This was my first .44 Special, and first custom revolver:
This was an old Colt New Service .455 Eley. It was one of those guns from the Canadian Mounties and was re-worked to .45 Colt. I bought it through an ad in Popular Mechanics for $24.95, adding $5.00 for select cpondition, in September, 1954. Around 1960 I had it converted to .44 Special, added a S&W rear sight, and a Micro ramp with Patridge blade, and an Ace trigger shoe. I made the walnut grips. One of my girl friends at school gave me a Lyman 310 Tong Tool for .44 Special, and another gave me a Redding powder scale. Got me started on my fondness for the .44 caliber and reloading.
I was separated from this gun in 1971 when it was stolen from a gunshop where I had left it for a new mainspring.
