Just bought this K22. Same bbl length, grips etc as my Model 66. But a ton cheaper to shoot. Triggers are close but the M66 is a lot smoother. The 22 was in beautiful shape for a 1957 vintage pistol. Doesn't appear to have been shot to death. Shoot 50 rounds with the big gun, shoot 500 rounds with the little gun. Don't spend a fortune on ammo. Fit all the same holsters, hands, sight picture etc. Unloaded, the 22 is 2lb 6 oz, the magnum is 2lb 8oz.

Outstanding.

No doubt about it - a 17/617 is an excellent understudy to one's K- or L-frame centerfire revolver, but they're terrific and versatile revolvers in their own right as well.

Congrats.
 
The barrel underlug on the 66 adds a few ounces.

The K-22 was actually made to be the same weight, loaded, as a K-38 or Model 15, and a K-32 or Model 16.
 
I typo'd above about the weights.

The 22 is heavier than the magnum by not quite 2 oz.

Both pistols. Clean, unloaded, same Pachy grips.

K22 - 2lb 8oz
M66 - 2lb - 6oz

I had the weights reversed in the orig post. Apparently the larger amount of metal in the 22's cylinder and barrel end up outweighing the larger under bbl lug on the model 66.

The weights are actually a tiny bit closer, but rounded off. The magnum is 2-6.22 and the K22 is 2-7.72. And the 22 actually was wearing six plastic snap caps when I weighed it. But I can't get them to read anything on my digital postal scale. So they apparently weigh less than 0.01 oz.

The 22 shoots great. But it has a little trouble ejecting the empty brass. Not an ejector problem, it seems like the brass swelled enough to make them tight in the cylinder holes. That was with Aguila hyper velocity and short sub-sonic rounds. I should try some different brands of ammo. The gun doesn't appear shot much. And the "tight brass" thing is the same in all six cylinder holes. I can't imagine it's a gun problem but an ammo problem.

Having a blast dry firing with coins on the top strap all morning while I wait for the horse vet to arrive.
