That is awesome, I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter. Hmmm..... I wonder what I should get her for Christmas now... I think a 45-70 may be a little large for her. What about .30-06?
Ahh, maybe I should wait until she is 3, oh well...
That's awesome - I'm so ashamed - my nephews are 8 and 5 and they've never even been hunting. At least they have shot the airguns though, thanks to me. If they were my kids instead of nephews, they'd have hunted by now. That video and that kid are an inspiration.
I struggle all the time with the big "how old" question and have realized there are so many variables involved, it is impossible to say. My oldest, 12, struggles with ADHD and anxiety. I am still not ready to let him shoot a .22, let alone a center fire. My next oldest, 6, is ready to go right now, but trying to let him go, while prohibiting his older brother from going is not fair to either one. Then add in a 5 year-old, who thinks he can do anything his brothers can do...
We are working on archery together - might be the solution to getting them in the woods to hunt for real. Last year, I took them each for an overnight seperately during bow season. They got to go out with me and with Grampa seperately.
I tell you, it is a nerve-racking tight rope to balance everything and hope it is the right thing. Too bad kids don't come with a user's manual to give you all the right intervals...

Thats a great video. I wonder what kind of gun he was using. My 5 yr old has a .22lr and a .410 but I don't belive I would let him shoot a high powered rifle just yet.
