My crazy uncle.

One of my uncles contacted me recently to say, among other things I'll not repeat, that he's always voted Demoncrat, but that this year he'll be voting for Bush. Why? Because for no other reason than Gore's stance on guns. Not that I'm a Bush fan (I early-voted for Browne), but if a life-long Demoncrat is going to cross over, and I'm sure my uncle's not alone here, I believe that's a sign Gore is going to get his clock cleaned come Nov. 7.

P.S. My uncle actually sounded rational on this subject, but overall, and for reasons I don't want to divulge here, he's as loony as they come. I just hope he actually makes it to the polling booth.

I'm guessing that a lot of older Americans have crossed over to the socialist side now that they are in the retirement years. Their beloved Social Security is more important to them than the character of who runs the country.
 
DAL, at least your uncle is crazy in the right direction this year. I have an "eccentric" neighbor whom I thought was a conservative. He is on abortion, at least. In fact, he is so much so that in 1996 he tore up his Dole sign when he learned Dole had put room in the party platform for pro-choice views. My neighbor then put up a Clinton sign. :rolleyes:

This year he has a Buchanan sign on his lawn.
I'm going to get it after Nov 7th. Those signs are rare, and could have collector value.
