My Christmas miracle

Well, I went to my favorite gun store today looking for a Kel-Tec PF-9. They didn't have any so I began looking at the S&W .38s. As I glanced down the row, it appeared. A Ruger SP101 in .357 Magnum. I immediately told the guy behind the counter to give it to me. And she came home with me. A little trade in and I got it for a good price. I have been looking for one of these for a long time and it showed up when I went looking for a new gun. And here she is...

i shot one of those today. I guy at the range loaded some 357s after shooting several 38's, and asked me if I wanted to burn off a couple of rounds. It was a hammerless. First shot was high because the trigger was longer than I expected. But, after that, dead nut center everytime. WIth the 357's, I got trigger finger bite the first couple of rounds, but repositioned and wasnt an issue. Very nice gun. I had just got happy with mine, then I go and shoot a sp101. Here we go again. Good buy though. Good luck

Not to get into a name brand war.... but

you made a much better choice in my opinion.

now in contrast to what was suggested above.... I suggest:

I've got an SP myself, those are nice guns. If the trigger feels a little gritty to you, dry fire the hell out of it and the trigger will really smooth out.

Just curious though, where do you live that a SP is hard to find? Congrats, I'm sure the SP will serve you well.

That is just beautiful! It also happens to be exactly what I want when I'm ready to buy another one. Soon, I hope

It's a good little gun

Sign up at www.rugerforum.net, start participating, download the IBOK and smooth it up. It becomes even better.

It is still no S&W as far as DA trigger pull, but there are never any worries about shooting it loose, or questions as to whether it can handle a steady diet of 357 Magnums. ;)

P.S. - This is a much better gun than a PF-9

I'm glad they didn't have the PF-9. You were "forced" into buying the better gun. :D

I got to shoot it today. I love this gun! The shots landed exactly where I was pointing. Recoil is easily managed, both two-handed and one-handed shooting. I was kind of sad when I ran out of ammo and it was time to go home. But I enjoy cleaning it as much as I like shooting it. I am so glad I found this gun.

And I live in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Not too many good gun stores here. I always go up to Simmon's Sporting Goods in Bessemer. Great selection and prices. Great guys too.

Really super nice 357 mag revolver there.

A lifetime revolver for sure.

You can still buy the KelTec later.

Get a P3at.

It's much smaller than that Ruger and much easier to carry when you don't want the heft of that Ruger.

Nice find.:)
