My Census story

I will try to keep this short. We recieved the long form and I filled out only how many people live in the house and their ages on 4/1/00. A few weeks ago, a census "worker" came by. I told her that I had sent the form in and her reply was that some of them were damaged in the mail. It sounded like Bravo Sierra to me, but I gave her the same info I had put on the form and sent her on her way. Last night another census "worker" came by. I told him I had sent the form in and answered the questions a second time and that I would not answer any more. He said that I had not answered the questions because he had my form. I told him that I had answered all of the questions required by the Constitution and please not to bother us any more. He said that another worker would be coming by and that if I didn't like it I should call the census office. I don't want to call because then they would have my phone number if they have caller ID. Any suggestions?

"There are people who do not mind the fact that O.J. Simpson walks free. There are people who do not mind the fact that Lon Horiuchi is not only not punished for his atrocity at Ruby Ridge, but he continues on the public payroll. There are those who know who killed Vince Foster, but are not bothered by the fact that the subject has been dropped officially. I mind those things. Do you?" - Jeff Cooper

Call them, but dial *67 first. *67 blocks your number from being displayed on caller ID units everytime you dial it before you call a number.

File harrassment charges against them with the local police. If they continue, ask for a restraining order.

Oh, and if you get that far, call Fox news, etc. and let them know.

That's the same thing they told me "We didn't receive your form." Must be their standard BS line to get in the door. I was polite to mine, but when he wouldn't leave, I was less than polite. Told him he had exactly 2 minutes to pull his car and his self off my property before I called the sheriff. He did.

Call from a pay phone. Better yet, go to your local Democratic HQ or anti-gun group, take their literature, and ask to make a local call. :)

What a bunch of "victims"! There is nothing wrong with giving names, relationships, and birthdates. The Census has ALWAYS done this.

Besides, unless you don't pay taxes, don't have state id, don't vaccinate your children, don't have marriage or birth certicicates, don't have a ss#, are not employed by someone, don't license your vehicle, etc., the government knows who you are or can find out.

p l i n k e r, if the gummint already knows who and where we are, then why are they going door-to-door?

No, don't bother to answer, just continue to mutter ill-temperedly about all of us "victims."

p l i n k e r, I agree, the Government knows who we are and not filling out census forms doesn't really change anything, but to me it's the principle of the matter. If the census only *requires* certain info, than the rest should be voluntary. And if it is voluntary, than it is harrassment to keep coming to ask for the info that you have refused.

I filled out my form, but I think the government should respect the wishes of those who refuse to.

*67 only works against POTS CallerID. If you call any toll-free number (800, 888, 877, etc.) you get picked up by ANAC/ANI (automatic number identification) billing which logs you regardless of your CallerID settings. Just like your long distance bill has who you call, toll-free customers have a bill that lists everyone who called them.

Went to a dinner tonight and sat along side a census worker. I told him that I only filled out the number box on my census form and sent it in!
I was informed that a census worker would keep coming until they got the required info. I was also told that I was breaking the law by not complying.
I'm still laughing my *** off!

I filled out the short form; all I put on it was the number 3, which is how many people are living at this address. They've sent 2 or 3 people, and I've informed all of them that I fulfilled the Constitutional requirement-headcount. Since most of these peole are just part-timers trying to pick up a little extra $$ by helping count, I try to remain civil and not get too long-winded. If they send a full-time federal employee, I will still remain civil, but I'll give that person the whole 9 yards worth.

I don't have a census story. But all my property is posted. When someone who can't read drives all the way back to tresspass, I look out the window to see who is there and if I don't know them I go about my business and ignore them, if they don't leave I just call the police and report them.
BTW, there is no welcome mat by my door ;)
