My birthday and a huge gun show in the same week,,,
I swear I'm getting myself something nice this time around.

The Wannenmacher's Gun Show is in Tulsa the 14th-15th of November,,,
And for the first time ever I will have a fat wallet when I go.

I paid off my mortgage two months ago,,,
So that money has been going into a new gun fund.

I've also been semi-frugal with my personal allowance,,,
So there is a tidy sum built up there as well.

So now the decision is just what do I want to treat myself with. :D

You know me and my penchant for pairing rimfire/centerfire handguns,,,
That passion doesn't stop at handguns though,,,
So maybe a rifle will be the thing,,,
I have two candidates.

Last month I purchased a WZ-48 Polish Military Trainer in .22 LR,,,
This rifle is quickly becoming a favorite due it's performance,,,
It's shooting groups as small as my CZ-452 Trainer.

Perhaps a Polish M-44 Carbine would be a good choice.

I also own a very nice shooting K-98 Mauser,,,
This rifle is a family heirloom that I've had since I was 12 years old.

I have always had a desire to pair it up with one of the Mauser trainers,,,
The KKW is the more exact match in looks to the K-98,,,
But a DSM-34 is an appropriate match as well.

I'll have just over a Grand in my pocket when I go to the show,,,
It's possible I could find a match for my K-98 at that price,,,
But in all likelihood either would eat that up and more.

I'm just brainstorming for ideas today,,,
I have obtained all of the handguns on my "want to own" list,,,
And the only rifles that interest me are the three I've mentioned already.

Perhaps I should think about a 9mm Hi-Point to go with my Hi-Point Carbine. :o

Anyways, the anticipation has me feeling like a young kid again,,,
Not the 64 year old curmudgeon I will be in 14 days.

Revolver/pistol pairs in the same caliber.?

I hadn't really thought about it until the evil LGS guy put a S&W 52-1 in my hand 2 weeks ago.
Real nice pair to a S&W 14&15,

But if you already have everything on your list, and the evil pawn shop guy can't tempt you anymore, rifle pairs sound good.

A lever rifle in the same caliber as a revolver is making its way up the list for me, just haven't got there yet.

You'll know it when you see it and it calls out to you.
Happy upcoming birthday.

Birthday gun

Well happy birthday young man! My birthday is this month too! If you don't have anything engraved, maybe a engraved gun. That's what I did some time back. I bought a engraved Colt Hammerless .32!

A Ruger No.1 and a Ruger revolver in 357 Magnum would be a good combo. Get the rifle first, they're scarce and will set you back your entire bankroll.

Now I got a hankerin' to go to the so-so show in Philly in a couple weeks. Thanks for nothin'. Now I gotta buy something just because. ;):)

Happy Birthday to you.

An engraved Colt Hammerless,,,
Now that's not a bad idea at all my friend,,,
I don't own any semi-auto pistols from that era at all.

Revolver/pistol pairs in the same caliber.?

Not exactly,,,
I collect pairs of firearms in rimfire/centerfire pairs.

Such as my S&W Model 15 in .38 and a Model 18 in .22 LR,,,
Or my CZ-75B in 9mm and a CZ-75B Kadet in .22 LR.

So far the only pair of rifles I own is a H&R Handi-Rifle in .357,,,
Paired with a near identical H&R Sportster in .22 LR.

I have them in a case with a pair of Colt Trooper Mk-III revolvers,,,
The 4" is chambered in .357 Magnum and the 6" in .22 LR.

A Ruger #1 and a Black/Redhawk would make a nice pair as well,,,
But you are right about them being pricey as all heck,,,
The pair would run to a bit more than I can spend.

I do pair up rifles and pistols on occasion though.

I have a stainless Henry Acu Bolt in .22 LR,,,
It's in a case with a stainless Charter Arms Pathfinder in .22 LR.

Both being stainless steel with black polymer furniture,,,
They go together very nicely in their case.

That's why I was considering a Polish M-44 Carbine,,,
To pair with my new (to me) WZ-48 Polish Trainer.

Or the DSM-34 or KKW Mauser rimfire trainer,,,
To pair with my K-98 Mauser in 8mm.

I can always hope but if what I'm seeing at Gunbroker is true,,,
Even with a Grand of disposable cash in my pocket,,,
I probably won't be able to buy either of those.

But who knows,,,
I might get lucky.

In any case I'm going to go there wearing my comfiest shoes,,,
I'll have my messenger bag full of water and munchies,,,
With the plan to look over every table at the show.

I'm going to go there and smell the gun oil,,,
If nothing else I'm going to have me some fun.

Which is better, the trip to the candy store with your grandparents, or the two weeks you spent waiting for the trip to happen?

Gunshow

Oh heck, I thought it was last weekend. If I wasn't recovering from a blood clot in the leg and lungs I'd be there! Good luck finding your birthday present!

Hello kilimanjaro,,,

Which is better, the trip to the candy store with your grandparents, or the two weeks you spent waiting for the trip to happen?

Mom always tried to instill some of that patience into me,,,
It didn't take. :o
