Hello everyone! Just takin a minute to tell everyone of my latest purchase! It's a stainless Beretta 96FS. What a pretty gun! Not that pretty is everything, but it sure is east on the eyes. Easy on the old wrist, now that's another story. The only other .40 I've fired was a glock 22 and I can't recall the recoil being this sharp.. it feels like 230 grain hardball from a 1911, but quicker. Not terrible, but I definitely know I'm not shooting my 92 or M9 9mm. My groups weren't as good either. I really don't care for the sighting arrangement of three red dots, the standard 92FS' sights are much easier to pick up at the indoor range. Outdoors, it probably would suffice. Also, the only thing I don't particularly care for is the hogue grips that came standard on the gun. I much prefer the standard black plastic as they make the grip slightly thinner. I will probably call Beretta and have them send me new grips w/ screws. Other than that, though, it shot just like my other Berettas and didn't miss a beat. A little practice and this could become my primary HD weapon.

Cool. I just took my stainless 92FS out today and did a 3.75" group @ 15 yds. Love those Berettas.:)

BTW, I love the Hogue grips that came with mine. The rubber feels so much better than the plastic, IMO.

since you don't like the red dots and the gun might be used for home defense you might want to consider getting night sights put on it. its harder to do with a 92FS than with most other guns, the best way to do it is to ship the slide to trijicon and have them put the sights in.

Know the feeling  Had a 92 Centurion for years. Then recently picked up an Italian 92fs w/ very low miles. Now, I'm playing w/ the idea of either a Brigadier or a Vertec (when it becomes available).
Berettas are like potato chips, you can't have just one! :D

Kermit,

Vertec's are hitting stores as we speak. Check out the Beretta-List. There are a couple of guys who already have theirs.

We here in CA have to wait for guns to be tested and placed on an approved list before we can purchase. Until Vertecs make it on the list, I just have to sit & wait

Kermit,

Aw, California. One of the many reasons I didn't move there when I had a chance(ended up in Oregon :) ). I haven't seen a Vertec yet in person, only in pics. Will soon hopefully.

Speaking of Brownings...how do you tell the difference between a Browning Hi-Power and a Beretta M92F (a.k.a. M-9), visually?

I know the T-1000 Terminator in "Terminator II: Judgement Day" uses a Hi-Power, but it looks very similar to a M92F to my untrained eye.
