She has all matching numbers, blued instead of that BBQ paint on finish, non blued bolt, and I believe that stock is the only replacement part.

Third Edit:

Well... doing research and taking her apart... she's an ex-DDR! The DDR stamp is just below the wood on the left side of the receiver. Also the serial number stamping on the stock, upper handguard, etc... all are indicative of DDR pattern stamps. She'll go very nicely with my DDR Makarov.

Even more awesome... my rifle is former East German. She has the DDR stamp just below the wood line on the left side of the receiver.

Nice Rifle. Does anyone know why the Yugo's are the only ones that come with the garnade launcher on them?

I don't know Jim, but I will tell you this. I used to own a Yugo SKS and I hated it. Because the Yugos used inferior steel, all steel parts were made thicker for extra strength. It results in a front heavy rifle that is uncomfortable to hold for prolonged periods of time. The grenade launcher is just extra weight in the front of the rifle. It might look good, but is very overrated and serves no purpose.

My current SKS, Chinese made, is a bit lighter and more comfortable than the Yugo. It is simply a delight.:D

Yugoslavia was a Communist Country back in the day but they were not in anyway allied with the USSR. Yugoslavian Partisans liberated their own country without the help of the Soviets or the Western Powers (in terms of troops). When the Cold War started Yugoslavia was caught between NATO and the Warsaw Pact. Hence the stockpiling of Mausers and other older firearms.

The original Yugo SKS was a clone of the standard SKS Carbine. Later on the Yugoslavians decided that a 22mm Grenade launcher was a good idea to stop Ivan's tanks. 22mm is also the NATO size for rifle grenades. Yugo SKS were made for both home use and export and since Yugoslavia didn't fall under either the Warsaw Pact or NATO they went their own route. They pushed the non aligned movement which totaled 77 countries (majority were third world).

The Yugos didn't use chrome for their rifles simply because they didn't see it necessary. Yugoslavia was home to huge chromium deposits. The majority of WWII and WWI arms didn't have chrome lined barrels. The USA, Germany, etc... didn't chrome their barrels. So if someone says that a Yugo SKS sucks because it's not chrome lined tell them to F%$@ off. M1 Garands, K98k Mausers, and a ton of other high end guns of the era were chromed lined.

The issue with some Yugo made SKS rifles is that they were used in the Yugoslav Wars in the 1990s and were used by idiot militia troops that used corrosive ammo and didn't clean them. On top of that they were left out in the rain, mud, dust, etc... by these uneducated peasant soldiers. If you run across a good condition Yugo SKS you'll be surprised with the quality that went into them.

Grenade launcher gas cut off valve that doubles as a grenade sight, Tritium Night Sights, Rubber recoil pad, bayonet that works with the grenade launcher; machined from solid bar stock for the receiver, bolt, and trigger housing. The mid to late production Chinese guns are stamped metal parts and pinned barrels instead of screwed in barrels.
