It is my understanding that these BATF rulings are the end in a somewhat long, convoluted chain of administrative agreements, undertaken with neither congressional debate or approval and "regulatory changes", that end up having the force of law, again without so much as a nod from The Congress. Otherwise put by a Clinton wag, "stroke of the pen, law of the land, kind of cool".

Quite possibly, a whole lot of people don't think this sort of thing is at all "cool". They might even go so far as to maske their displeasure known to their congresscritters, and keep making it known, until the problem gets fixed.

I'd be surprised to see a lot of people in Congress even want to touch this one. Too hot. Even with letters and protests and etc., the political reality is that the politicos will see this as a no-win for them.

It'll be swept under the rug and nobody will want to touch it.

Oh they'll touch it alright, if you present it to them in the right light....

They may not give a damn about your weapons, but they REALLY care about their power. You see, when the ATF bans something, that is a usurping of power that belongs to the legislators, and you can be sure if you make them aware of that, they'll be thinking a lot more visciously about it.

The Bill of Rights is a document of brilliance, a document of wisdom, and it is the ultimate law, spoken or not, for the very concept of a society that holds liberty above the desire for ever greater power. -Me

Jack 99 &Dangus:

Perhaps the three of us and any others who are/might be inclined to contact their elected things, and keep at it, aught to get together.

For whatever it might be worth, I sent the press release, and follow-up messages to my u.s. senators, my congressman does not accept e-mail, and is anti gun any way, though he does claim to be concerned with civil rights.

Dangun, re your "usurping of congressional powers", you might well have a possible hook there. I believe it is certainly worth mentioning. Seems to me that is it unfortunately the case that to many are ready to give up and this won't work then that won't work followed by announvcements that the other thing won't work either.

No offense meant, but that routine sometimes sounds like an excuse for standing mute, and not really doing much of anything, or even trying.
