Muzzleloader leagalities in WA...

Howdy, I've got a question. I'm a minor (17), and I live in Washington. I'm a Civil War re-enactor, and lately I've been thinking of going to a few events without my mom (she's very supportive of my hobby, and re-enacts herself, but sometimes she just can't take me).

This poses a question. I've heard from various people that it's legal in Washington for minors to transport muzzle-loading firearms, but I'm not going to go to jail on account of someone's mis-stating the law. Where would you suggest I go to find out all applicable laws, and, if the law says it's alright, where would you recommend going for a written copy of the applicable laws?

Thanks ahead of time to anyone (if anyone) who can help,
Wolfe.

Try the Washington State Dept. of Justice. If you want Federal Law, go to the BATFE website. Do a check under muzzle loader. You'll find out that muzzle loaders are exempt from Federal regulations. However, check the state law for any state you're going to visit.

For a quick reference, and points of contact:

www.access.wa.gov

While you're there, go to the Revised Code of Washington, and read RCW 9.41. This will give you a good basic foundation of the laws concerning firearms in Washington State.
