Muzzle brake...

I am looking for a muzzle brake or compensator I can put on my rifle. I want something that doesn't make my ears bleed when I shoot it...lol. I've had a couple but it makes my ears ring for quite a while. I have a DPMS LR 6.5 so I would need one with the 5/8x24 threads.

Any muzzle brake is going to increase the sound to the sides and rear. The act of diverting gasses to decrease comes at that price.

If you dont need the recoil reduction, there are a number of muzzle devices that direct the blast away from the shooter and downrange. Look at something along the lines of the KX3

First off, you're not shooting without hearing protection are you?

Secondly, all brakes make it louder, but sure, some are worse/better than others.

For me, I don't see the utility of a brake until you get to .338 lapua and up...not worth the noise / blast tradeoff, not to mention the extra weight / length.

I don't particularly like recoil, but I still shoot my .375 HH with no brake, because I don't want that extra weight in the field - or to be visited with tinnitus or deafness from shooting in the field.
