muzzle brake

sorry guys don't really know were to put these. figured reloaders would know more about it.

I have a muzzle brake on my browning A-bolt and after shooting a few reloads the muzzle brake has a lot of powder residue on it and was wondering if there is any homemade solution to soak it in. ( trying to stay away form bore cleaner as it smells god awful)
I have heard of soapy water and vinegar (could this work?) or could I just put it in the tumbler.

Same stuff you use to clean the powder residue from the bore (I just use Hoppes #9).

Why remove it? It's not necessary, and you'll need to replace the crush washer unless it was a custom brake and timed (machined) to be in the correct position when torqued in place.

That old #9 can get to you in confined spaces. Go on line check out reviews on gun solvents...

Just switch to a low odor powder solvent.

Try Gunzilla. Nearly odorless and cleans gunpowder fouling from the bore equally as well as Hoppe's or Shooter's Choice.
