I have been thinking of having a muzzle brake put on my Rem Mod 700 SPS300RUM but i am told that the brake makes the gun MUCH louder & it will cost me $200 to have it done . The recoil isn't bad at all i am a lbig ole feller & its not bad even after i switched to the Hornady 208 grn A-Max .what do ya fellas think

It will be louder to your neighbors on the range, not to yourself. Also, some outfitters don't like their guests to use them. That said, the difference it makes on an overbore cartridge like the 300 RUM is huge, lots of gases to redirect. Mine shoots like a 223 with and a 30-06 without (20 lbs scoped weight help). So, if you go hunting with it alone, by all means put one on.

It will be louder, especially to people standing to the side of the shooter. However, it will help tame recoil. So long as you wear hearing protection, I'd say go for it . Who needs detached retinas or bad shoulders anyway?

What kind of brake are you looking at?. The Ops Inc brakes are very nice. They can make them for any caliber
