muzzle brake clearance

To all, I am starting on a 30/06 project. I will be installing a Harrells muzzle brake, Unfortunately, the one I was sent was apparently for a .243/6mm or such. I will either have to return or rebore it.
I have seen info out there that suggests that a properly fit m/b should have around .010 clearance on the bore size. Example .308 should come in at .318-ish to function properly.
Does anyone have experience here?

P.S. Richards' microfit stocks are the snitzz. If you can get ahold of them. Custom thumbhole for $117.

muzzle brake

Sir,
Why a brake on a 3006, it is not necessary. Also, every shot you fire will result in hearing damage. No disrespect intended but it is just not needed, if the recoil bothers you go to a lighter caliber.

Well, cause I want to. I've been shooting 06's for 40 yrs. No, the recoil is not too much, It will mostly be a bench rifle, and yes..just cause I want to.
Does anyone have any info on this? Perhaps some experience with clearance using a muzzle brake? Partly it's that I like learning about non normal aspects of whatever I might be into. I don't currently have a lathe or I would do it myself. I would, however like to have the knowledge base to do it.

Thanks Mr. Alaska,
Now to see if the gunsmith is up on such.. Unfortunately he is out of town for a while.Just wish I still had a lathe or I would cut the threads and bore it myself. I've machined stuff down to .001in press fit so, just short on equipment.
