Musket Long Shotguns

Wouldnt it be cool to have a shotgun that is as long as an historic musket? I do. I like the "look" of such a long arm as well as the shell capacity it would bring, say bout 14 shells in the mag and one locked and loaded. I have heard that the 12ga slug and the original musket load was virtually the same in terms of power? Dont know about that but I think if Remington decided to manufacture such a weapon in bulk, made it affordable, easy to carry, and labeled it the "Citizens Arm" (I know, all are citizens arms), it would sell like hot cakes on a cold winters day.

Of course I am speaking ignorant of any laws pertaining to shell capacity, but I love the idea.

After the Civil War, Springfield muskets were converted to shotguns. They used to be for sale in Sears & Roebuck catalogs up past the turn of the century.

Hmmm, fun? Unless you need to use it and you have to schlep the silly thing around wit ya (a little New York lingo for you).

Every shotgun class I've been too, guys who read too many gun rags bring their Tommy Tactical extened mag tubes and start to bleat "it's too heavy." Well, sling it up. "But I need it." Get it out. Ad naseum

You forgot the 2 foot long bayonet also.

Seriously, most folks cannot handle that much weight for long unless they're just out of AIT. And they'd be extremely nose heavy.

There used to be a fair number of 1100s with 28" bbls and full length mag extensions around at practical shoots. Nobody seemed to win with them tho they could put an impressive tonnage of lead downrange in short order.

Too much of a good thing's a bad thing....
