Not sure if this is for this forum but was not sure were to post. I have seen three stories and a half dozen emails concerned with the amount of rounds of ammo ordered by DHS, NOAA, and SSA. What is the deal? Is 750,000 rounds an excessive amount for DHS? Also not sure if these are even legit stories.

I saw the one about buying x number of "rounds of bullets". I just shook my head and did not even look at the rest.

This came up a while ago. DHS is a big department with a lot of agents. Most, if not all, of them are issued .40 caliber pistols. Between training, practice, qualifying, and duty use I imagine they go through quite a bit of ammo.

Thanks for the in put. I had seen these and was wondering what the big deal was but really had no idea what kind of ammo needs were realistic.

Weird, don't you think....?

That we freak out because gov't bought "too much" ammo, gov't freaks out about us buying "too much" ammo.

It's a vicious cycle, I tell you;)

Federal agencies carry guns. They need ammunition to practice. Seems logical.

In any case, we're talking about chain letters and articles that aren't quoted or linked, so there's nothing of real substance to discuss.
