Mt Gun in 45???

I don't think the last number being a 6 means it has a tapered barrel does it? It doesn't for the 586/686 series.

Nope, the original model 26 in 45ACP and a few in 45 Colt was a blued gun with tapered light weight barrel and adj sights. So, would a Mt gun, which is a 4" tapered barrel with adjustable sights in 45 ACP or Colt technically be a 626, the preceding 6 for stainless and the 26 for the "true" model number?

I have a 625-9, .45 Colt (4 inch tapered barrel) Mountain Gun. Perhaps this really is a 626, but the designation on the box and in the steel is 625-9. By the way, it is a great revolver!

Hello Victor,
I've been dialing in a 25-13 this past week.
Chamber throats were opened to .4525 from the factories .450, action tuned and jeweled-Wolff springs and Eagle coke bottle stocks.
VERY accurate with all loads over 850fps.....then the front lock disappeared!
S&W won't answer their phone on Mon. so called Brownells.
