MP 40 blueing problem

What methode would you use to fill in rusted areas on my MP40 and still be able to blue it? Did the Germans actually use blueing or did they paint the parts. The part I am interested is the part that holds the reciever and has MP40 on the top. It is pitted on one side and I would like to fill it in if possible. Any suggestions?
 
As far as I know, the MP40 was always "blued" or at least blackened with some type of oxide finish.

There is no practical method of filling pits except by Tig welding.
On guns, this takes a genuine expert, preferably an expert gunsmith/welder.

There is no other way to fill pits that will take any type of bluing.
