Moving handguns to Kalifornia

I have a friend who is moving to Kalifornia next year. He owns a collection of several handguns, mostly without safeties, as well as a a few hi-cap mags. Can he bring them in to California, since he is the owner? If so, can he drive them into the state, assuming that all the states in between allow the transport of locked firearms?

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR TRANSPORTING A HANDGUN IN CALIFORNIA

California Penal Code section 12025 does not prevent a
citizen of the United States over 18 years of age who is not within any
of the classes excepted from firearm possession and who resides or is
temporarily in California from transporting by motor vehicle any pistol,
revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person
if the firearm is unloaded and in a locked container.

The term "locked container" means a secure container which
is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, key lock, combination
lock, or similar locking device. This includes the trunk of a motor
vehicle, but does not include the utility or glove compartment. For more
information, refer to California Penal Code Section 12026.1.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR TRANSPORTING A SHOTGUN OR RIFLE IN
CALIFORNIA

Nonconealable firearms (rifles and shotguns) are not generally
covered within the provisions of California Penal Code section 12025
and therefore are not required to be transported in a locked container.
However, as with any firearm, nonconcealable firearms must be unloaded
while they are being transported.

No way. It's none of Kalifonia's businees which guns this "importer" has.

Jeff:

The whole political climate in Northern California makes me think that this is mild compared to what is coming. How about being required to obtain expensive liability insurance in order to own a gun? You can expect to be required to take classes on a regular basis. Remember to register your assault weapons. Teppo, do you own an AR, or AK? Might think about selling those evil things before coming to California. We don't want you to bring them with you. In California, we realize that government knows what is best for us. They help us from cradle to grave. Oh yes, when we die, they confiscate much of our money and property. So, make sure that you go to heaven, because the politicians have hell all sewn up.

Run Away!

Do not move to Kalifornia. Unless of course you want to challenge the constitutionality of the law.

To this layman, it redefines the unregulable transport of private goods into a sort of pseudo-commerce then presumes to regulate it, except that this commerce is interstate the regulation of which is reserved to the Fedreal Government by the Constitution.

Any competent opinions out there?

California required that any vehicles brought into the state by new residents pay $300 because of smog restrictions (a kind of "Indulgences" fee dispensed by the God Enviro). Last year the state was taken to court over the fee and the fees were declared unconstitutional.

The Personal Handgun Importer law and the $14.00 fee seems to fall in the same category. Any legal opinions? Maybe the attorney who handled the vehicle case would be interested in another case along similar lines. I'd sure like to start taking back our rights. This may be a good place to start. Feedback please.

I'd move out of Kalifornia in a heartbeat if it didn't mean having to drive 500 miles to work every day.

My sister moved to Kali last year. She still uses her IL drivers licence.
Maybe it's possible to retain citizenship in the old state while living in Kali. (or dual residency??)

Be aware that you are moving into a full blown communistnazi police state. The Constitution of The U.S. does not apply there. The Marxist Socialists control virtually everything in Kalifornia and it is only going to get worse.

I lived in Los Angeles for 35 years, and there is not enough money in the world to convince me to move back.

Kalifonia is a gigantic time bomb, just waiting for the big explosion. J.B.
