Moving Enfield Front Sights

How hard is it to move the front sight of a Lee-Enfield Mk. 4? I want to sporterize my Enfield and shorten the barrel to around 20-22 inches and I want to stay with the current front sight and the rear aperature sight that I already have.

Can it be done? IF not, where can I get a replacement frot sight that I can install myself?

Thanks,

Albin

Albin, the sight is sweated and pinned on the barrel. I've seen at least 2 that had screws under the sight blade like a 98 Mauser. But you need to remove any pins or screws and heat the sight until you can tap it off with a rawhide mallet or a hammer handle. The "new" muzzle area of the barrel will have to be turned to match the old muzzle diameter and then the sight sweated back on. George

George,

Thanks, it looked pretty good until you got the "turned" part!

It doesn't look like a home gunsmith job.

Any replacements that I can use in its place?

Thanks,

Albin
