Movin' to Oregon

Howdy to all my friends. By now, you have got to know me. Have a few questions and asking for "just in case" help: I'm living in Mountain Home ID at the moment. In about a week or two, I will be traveling, hopefully for the last time, to another locale. Eugene, OR. I need some advice on the carry laws in OR (I know none of my permits are good in OR but what about open carry? Open carry in vehicle? Etcc). What about BP guns? Since it's a "replica" do they fall under the Concealed carry laws? What about Portland, heard they have a ban on open carry as well as carry, loaded, in your vehicle. Also, I will be taking I-84 to I-5 and then down to Eugene. Anyone along the way willing to store my collection "just in case". Like an accident that leaves the car undrivable, blown tires (I'm not going to have alot of cash to spare), any situation that would have me leave the car for any amount of time? I would rather have a fellow TFL'er store the guns then the police. Any advice and help would be appreciated. USP45usp

USP45usp,

I live in West Linn (A Portland Suburb).

Email me with your mailing address, and I will send you a book about Oregon's gun laws.

You may NOT carry your pistol in the passenger compartment of a vehicle in Oregon. You may NOT carry openly in any incorporated city. You may NOT carry concealed at all.

If you get Oregon's CHL, you MAY carry concealed in your car (NOT openly), and you MAY carry concealed on your person almost anywhere.

Two points on Oregon's CHL law:

1) You no longer have a waiting period to buy a handgun

2) If you get stopped by the police, an alert is displayed on their computer screen when they run your DL.

Thanks for the replies, and I sent you an email Longshot, thanks for the pamplet offer. As for the point about your CHL showing up if the officer runs a check on your DL, it's the same here in ID. I was issued a state I.D. number since my DL is still GA. I've already been stopped and had the LEO ask me if I was carring when he checked my DL. I said yes and he didn't seem upset or change his tone/attitude/actions. Got stopped for having a head light out... talk about ironic things, I was driving home from work, hit a bump and the light went out, right at the same time a crusier turned onto the road in front of me. Didn't get a ticket or a "fix" it notice, just was told to get it fixed ASAP. Oh, one more thing, since the CHL notice comes up, does Oregon allow you to carry if you forget your CHL at home? ID does. USP45usp
