would they have allowed a Special Forces / Green Beret to have a beard & goatee like Deniro had in the movie the Deer Hunter? with his class A uniform

he looked more like a French Foreign Legionnaire with that beard?

I was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC back in the mid-90's and there were special forces-types there. How could you tell? They're were ones with long-er hair than the rest of us! In fact (if my memory serves me correctly) I saw some goatees on a few of them. However I never saw them in dress uniform.
