Today is the 35th anniversery of the release of Star Wars. Im a huge fan all my life. All the weapons in that movie, if you didnt knkw, were dressed up guns we know and love. Han Solo carried a Mauser Broomhandle, stormtrropers mostly.had sterlings smgs or a ww1 mg I cant remember the name of "had a big ciculer magazine feed from the top and a big tube cooling system around the barrel) so the thought hit, anyone else think of major props that were mocked or.modified from old stuff we knkw and love?

Thats right, thank you for thereminder. I just read an article about the Lewis a few weeks ago to lol. I dont remember when I realized the weapons were all mods of real fire arms. Ive wanted to repro Hans blaster since I did though. Of course then Id have to buy a lot of 9mm tracer ammo lol. In the evening it might look like blaster bolts right?

The "pulse rifles" in the movie "Aliens" were actually Thompson SMGs with fiberglass housings built around them to look cool/futuristic. The attached grenade launcher was a SPAS-12 with similar aesthetic modifications.

Because the original Star Wars episode #4 (A new Hope) was filmed on a low budget most of the props were everyday items. It was a fun game "tagging" SW hardware for it's real purpose.
Let me see what I can remember.

Han Solo, Broomhandle mauser with a fancy flash hider.

Princes Leia, A Russian "Vostok MU" target pistol In .22 RF. (Sold as "Margolin" in the US)

Sand People "blasters" Lee- Enfield smoke grenade launchers.

Storm troopers: a mix & match.
Street-legal sterling semi-auto short carbines with a 10 round magazine & a "single point" Armson OEG red dot sight, an MG 34, a few Lewis guns.

Darth Vader:'s light saber. A MPP "Micropress" bulb flash gun (The big ones like WEEGEE had hanging on the side of a big old press camers.)

The fuelling bowsers for the Millenium Falcon? Jackhammer compressors with a sound reducing shield.

Chewbacca's "crossbow"? beats me but it had a No4 Lee Enfield muzzle & frontsight on it.

Curio break. What is inside the bottom of Darth Vader's light saber when you unscrew the black base cap?

How much did it cost when bought at retail?

Answer in a couple of days..................:)

The bounty hunter IG-88 had what appeared to be a mock up built from a MG34

IIRC, that was the Jawas, the little guys in robes that scavenged and sold droids. The sand people (tusken raiders) were the big ones, that rode the banthas (disguised elephants?) and they used what look like jezails, with little or no modifications.:D
